I think we (online poker players) have to use every piece of information at hand.
Having said that just because someone has "fish" or "donkey" in their name doesn't mean i am taking it as a given that they are indeed a fish or a donkey as at the end of the day there will be a mix of all types of players who use these terms in their names.
Aliases can sometimes give clues though, for example if someone is using the name alias1941 this may indicate an older retired player playing recreationally and conversely alias1994 could be a very young possibly inexperienced player. Aliases like alias.ru could indicate the persons location and while there are good and bad players from every country, some countries are newer to the game and generally more inexperienced.
This is nothing more than an indicator though and there is no substitute for paying attention to your opponents play and very often you will find your assumptions to be entirely wrong, but i think every piece of information has to at least be considered when we cannot physically see our opponents as we could in live play.
