Very frustrating night tonight, aside from the bankroll challenge I'm currently involved with, I have a small staking arrangement with someone who invests in me occasionally to play Main Events etc. As I was playing anyway and felt like my form was pretty good, I decided to play the Main Event (this was 100% staked by an outside source and completely separate from my BR challenge). Because of this I also wanted to play the mini for the chance of the Jackpot but rather than buying in, I decided to try the Freeroll satellite and managed to win one of the 10 seats on offer in the mini for an investment of only 50p (I took the addon as it's just crazy not to).
I'd also played the Syndicate freeroll earlier and booked myself a seat into Mondays final.
As I like to play as many of the community games as possible, I also registered for the Orfordable deepstack, I find the slow pace of this tournament ideal to have going on in the background whilst I'm playing the min and main so I was set up for a good night in front of the computer.
Well............ Between the Main and the Mini, I played a grand total of 3 hands which in itself must be some kind of record, I just had horrible bad luck in the main, a guy called 3 streets with 99 with 2 overs on the board only to catch his set on the river and leave me with only 610 chips very early in the tournament. I then pick up KK in the small blind, it folds to the button who min raises, I 3bet to about 1/3 of my stack, he dwells and calls, flop comes 884, I open jam, he snap calls with 86off.... fml!
Still steaming form that the mini opens up and very 1st hand a player I am good friends with opens whilst I'm big blind, I know his range is very wide so I flat with 87off. Flop comes 4 5 7 rainbow, I check, he c-bets, I 3bet and he calls. Turn come a Q, I lead out, he calls, river comes an 8 I lead out again, he jams. I convince myself he can't possibly have the 6 here and make a terrible call. Of course he has 5 6. GG UL.....
The Orfordable was going pretty well at least and I'd been in the top few players all the way through the first couple of hours. As it's a long tournament I decided to open up a couple of £2.30 tournaments too, a BH and a £250 gtd speed.
I played well in both of those and mad very few mistakes, however in the Orfordable I managed to throw away all my chips in one hand when I'd raised from the SB, blind on bling with K10 and the flop had come x 10 J, I led 2 streets and he called, when I checked the river he jammed and I just couldn't make myself fold as he won the pot with J4 and knocked me out.
Anyway of the last 2 tourneys I made a couple of mistakes late on in the £250 gtd, but managed 8/192 for a small cash.
Slykllist08£6.53 + £5.11 Head Prizes3 This just about covered all my entries for the night so I finished the evening pretty much exactly where I started but rather more frustrated!
Well..... I just typed quite a long post only to see it disappear because I wasn't logged on when I submitted it SIGH, so here are a few cashes from tonight, I'll add more detail once I've been to sleep!
Sigh, I suspect you may be right Geldy. 100NL HU is always gonna be trouble even if the BR was £2,000 and not £200.
Silver lining - What you had came from only £100, so you've only really lost £100 (or £80?) of your own money. By the looks of it, you got £20 left so either rungood and get back on the horse or re-load, and just don't do this again (obv easier said than done).
Hi Simon, hope the head is starting to clear after this slip.
Regardless of the result there, you messed up as soon as you took your seat you know you shouldn't have been there. Have a think about why you fired up the game, and hopefully you can close it down and start to rebuild again.
