Sunday's live show - with James & Ryan (***OFFICIAL THREAD***)

On Sunday, from 7pm, enjoy five hours of Hold'em, analysed by a man whose teeth are even more impressive than the "Hampsteads" of Mr Conrad Poohs...

We'll kick off the show on 861 with the final table of Thursday's £12k Sky Sports Bounty Hunter. And then, expect four hours of live MTT and Master Cash hands, with the primary focus being the £10k Primo.

There WILL be a caption contest (see below). And we'll certainly be discussing this guy...

Yes, 2013 marks the 10th anniversary of Chris Moneymaker's historic win in the World Series of Poker Main Event. A decade has passed since the poker boom was ignited. But ask yourself this question:

What would have happened if Sammy Farha had won?

Do you think you'd be playing poker? Would we have pub leagues, and card rooms in almost every UK casino? Would Sky Poker exist?!?

Hmmm interesting question James, i wasnt paying attention at the time so this all passed way over my head but id guess that the medias fascination with it was more to do with his quirky surname than the fact he satellited in for very little, he would have still made alot of cash for 2nd so think it will have probably gone the  same way. What if he was called Chris Molemaker? Maybe the boom may not have occured.

Similarly id like to know, what effect do ppl think Ryans dental work will have on his tv career? CUE CLOSEUP ;)

Great point, Janana. How much of the poker boom can be attributed to Chris's ridiculously appropriate last name?

    In answer to your question.

It wouldn't have mattered whether Moneymaker won or not!
At that moment in time, Poker was a sleeping giant waiting for technology to arrive.

Technology, excellent TV promotion and evolving from taboo to accessible is responsible for the surge in popularity

Certainly in the UK Channel 4 and channels 865 then 861 have played a major part getting us involved!

The poker suits now have to ensure the game continues to evolve!

I'm old, and can remember when darts was a must watch on TV and was played in everyone's local!
How often do you see it played in your local pub now?

We can't let that happen to poker!

I guess we,ll never really know but talking of pub leaugues. I,d say about 80% off pubs in Preston now have at least 1 game a week and theres more popping up all the time. If you bust out of one game you can go round the corner and join in another game. Its gr8

Good to see you both and everyone at the SPT. Sore head, but gr8 time as always

James, I was so glad for your sake that you eventually got a deal done in the sidey last night. I was somehow still awake railing until 5am (sigh) and I found it quite funny the first time you tried but Solly refused! I bet you must have been devastated. WP on the cash

Oh, and by the way, how well do you want to run winning £60 in the 6 way all in at the end. Luckbox. #skillgame

I started playing poker long after Moneymaker, so I missed the initial boom. I'd assume that history wouldn't be much different if he had lost the heads-up with Sammy. It would still have been a great story.

James, It was great playing with you for a few hours last night and I'm glad to hear your rungood in the side event kept you up all night. You're still no Orford, but who is?

PS: On a scale of 1-10, how enjoyable was it to share a table with Irene and Paula, especially after playing for hours?

PPS: Will you support my movement to do SPTs without poker? It only gets in the way of the fun. Ryan and the Bromleys are already on board!

If Sammy Farha had won, there would have been a large increase in the liquidity of high stakes PLO games in the Las Vegas area for several years.

    Good evening chaps.

James, I know you're not a fan of bad beat stories or moaning about elimination hands but can you quickly run through your bustout hand from the main event yesterday? It sounds interesting and I'd like to hear your thoughts on it. Perhaps, to avoid embarrassing them, you could refer to your opponents as Player A and Player B.. ill Maynard.

I'm with Giant, by the way. I hadn't heard of Chris Moneymaker until I'd been playing poker for several years. I wouldn't like to speculate what would have happened without him.

Have a great show. Hope you're both well.

The Producer set the team the task of selecting the best hand of the night to put on their Ipods

Tikay, slightly confused chose his right hand but doesn't understand why its not working

Orford, hasn't grasped the fact they have to be face up

While James is thinking how can I choose just one? All my hands were the best of the night!
