ok so I was playing £500 bh tonight and a new player at the table starting announcing their hand in the chat box during the middle of the hands. i.e. someone raised their bb and they said something along the lines of "10s bingo time" before shoving all in. 2nd time I raised 3 x bb, 1 caller and again from bb she said "AK" before calling. I won the hand anyway
after the second time I asked them quite politely to stop at which point they said to me "if you rr me I will call my hand out". one of the two hands they announced was shown and the hand they announced was the same.
Was I right to inform cs? I feel like a real snitch. If not what else should I do?

I might be wrong but I don't think they're actually breaking any rules, just leave them to it.
for anyone who's interested here's a couple of links I found:

it sounds like something that would be really easy to have a rule for but when you think about it it's actually quite difficult.
I.e. saying "I have AK" or "can you beat top pair top kicker?"
seemed to be a bit of an argument between negreanu and some event official took place regarding it.

I think the collusion argument is reason enough to ban anything like it. i.e. if disclosing your hands was allowed it would make collusion almost impossible to detect.
Personally I feel you should not be able to say what you actually have but could say anything else. As long as we know they are not saying what they actually have then they could have any 2 cards but the ones they say they have. I dont think they should even be able to say the range "I have a decent pair", if they have a pair,
It's a bit of a grey area really.
If you're stacking off cos you believed them or because you didn't despite what you'd have normally done if they hadn't said anything, then you've done exactly what they were aiming to get you to do.
