In Response to Re: £5 Free Bet Every Week from Sky Bet : Still dont see the issue here. Its basically getting a free shot at a 5/1 acca each week which i see no issue with. RE bolded bit: I work in a company which specialises in football and betting... in fact im the head analyst so i'd like to know what this maths includes. I see it as: You have £20 to play with each week. You bet £5 on an acca at 5/1. Pay out £25 if you win (inc stake). If you lose you get £5 free bet. Balance if win £40 + £5 free bet. Balance if lose £15 + £5 free bet. If youve lost, put the £5 bet on something you might be betting on anyway at say evens. Balance if win £20 assuming initial stake is lost. Balance if lost £15. I just dont see the quarms with this promotion. If you are placing accumulators anyway then you are getting a second free bet to try and get your stake back. If you aren't then ignore the promotion. RE the finding 5/1 difficult.... seriously? Three games at evens will do it. Posted by gazza127
This is what I thought I don't do accumulators so no benefit to me at all and I was going to ignore the promotion entirely but it's actually very useful to me.
I bet about £10-£20 per week on the golf. So I can put my acca on the Saturday and win or lose I can use the free bet that I get on the monday to do my golf bets that I would have done anyway!
Before promotion:
£20 bet on golf
After promotion
£5 acca
£15 + £5 free bet on golf
Only downside is if you miss a week you have to put on a £10 acca to get back in.
It's no use to you if you don't tend to bet £5 a week or place £5 accumulators.
You're right Larson for fractions. I work in decimals. its much easier. 5/1 is something like 1.83 (in decimals per game) across three games which is just over 4/5 and not evens.... but just said evens for simplicity lol.
Think I made this sound a lot more complicated than it is.
3 games at odds of roughly 4/5 or 1.83 will acheive accumulated odds of roughly 5/1 or 6.

The only way to clarify this is to have a real life example of how skys odds are generally lower than their competitors. So if a 5/1 accy on sky is worth say 7/1 on another site then taking this deal with a free bet at evens means you are not better off, no? Ok granted the free bet does give you the chance to get your money back but in the long run its more +ve to go for value accumulators than stick with sky for the promo assuming that you are a winning sports bettor. If you dont win, then forget about the promo.
As for picking football matches where the odds are evens, thats exactly what the bookies want you to do because for sure you will end up with one of your selections bombling out.

I totally understand what you mean relative to the 5/1 v 7/1 thing. And i'll admit I usually use another bookie (one that is open every day of the year *ahem*) for my bets. However it is a free bet each week regardless of wins or loses.
However,
Say you win one in every four 5/1 accas on sky during this promotion. £20 goes into £30 + £20 in free bets = £50 total worth of betting left.
If you get the same accas at 7/1 on mr joe bloggs site and win one in every four... £20 goes into £40. Total.
That means that with youre free £20 quid youve gotten over a month you need to achieve a profit of £10 to match other website - definitely achievable.
Theres still value in the promotion for sure.
And RE the higher odds selection... one of my main focusses in my job is to determine the best way to assess and achieve the best ROI in sports betting. Analysis has showed that picking teams like Man Utd at odds of 1.2 and Barcelona at 1.1 are -ve and picking games at odds of 1.8-2.5 each game are +ve in trebles. If you pick three games at 1.2 because you are are much more sure these games are going to come off then you have to win something like 60-65% of your trebles to break even. If you do the same at odds of 1.8 then you only have to win something like 25% to break even... and there is litterally no point in picking 10 games at odds of 1.2 resulting in a 5/1 acca. That is a lot more variant than picking 3 games at 1.83, so i'd definitely be keeping to odds around 1.8 or more regardless of the promotion.

Think you are possibly overstating the value difference between Sky Bet and other bookies. They are very competitive and this adds more value for customers.
For example, we picked three teams for this opening weekend which are a fraction of odds-on (like the examples people have given above) compared the odds and here's what came out...
The teams were QPR, Nottingham Forest and Reading all at home. At Sky Bet, these were currently 5/6, 4/5 and 10/11 respectively which pays 6.29 (so just bigger than 5/1).
We looked at around 20 bookies and it was second best value out of these, only beat by one other. FWIW, the highest paid 6.38 and the lowest paid 5.72 with the odds as they are now.
Sky, is it just one free bet maximum? Or is it say 3x accumulators that meet the requirements you get 3x £5 free bets? I looked at the T&C and can't see anything. Posted by FlashFlush
wonder if I have done this right anyone want to confirm for me I opted in through the join now and then a put 4 teams on to win qpr/celtic/reading/leeds it said 4 fold accumulator 9.88/1 and I bet £5 have I done this right ?
also i`m not a betting man apart from poker so expect this bet to lose lol.
I ended up havin to call them up, i signed in and placed my bet. When i called up to double check they said i hadn't opted in! They opted me in over the phone and had to place my bet again/ cancel first bet. Give them a call bud to double check it, 0800 0724777 Posted by LARSON7
cheers m8 not too fussed anywayz only £5.
I went through the whole opt in thing so should be fine was goin to say fancy forum cash game l8rz played around 7hrs of cash today could really do with some fun pokerz and banter?
As i posted on twitter earlier this week, very dissapointing promotion. Billed as more generous and exciting than previous promotion, misleading claim. Wont be availing myself of this 'reward', bookies benefit. With no reward, shall be taking most of my betting to either pp or vc as odda generally better and more markets, esp pp. No value now. I make no apologies for bragging too! (don't worry skybet, you'll get it all back inevitably
Yes Liam, winners still get a £5 freebie, should be with you on Monday I think.
Remember the freebet you only get to keep the profit on the bet, not the £5 'free stake'.
wp! Did it in style too, Celtic left it late (I had em too) but Leeds must've been well into injury time!
Best way to win
