The September diary

Been lacking motivation since withdrawing most of my roll, I have now withdrawn down to £40 and will be logging one months play in an attempt to be accountable to myself and recapture a structured playing schedule to take forward into the winter.

First session tonight.

No more football betting and no more tourneys (excluding freerolls) for me. A pure 4nl month.

Good luck, look forward to hearing how you do.

    Will be an interesting read.

    Cheers Larson,

I think the frequency that our buddy Dave plays could see my returns swing around 25% either way.

    Lol

I was just going to set you a challenge for the month and then I read your last post.
I fear it will be impossible.

To go alongside the September 4nl grind, you also have to avoid being critical or mocking of other players.

Seriously, I feel you offer some really good advice to people. The trouble is, is that it is often missed as people understandably pick up more on the more unpleasant things you post.

    Jac,

Totally agree about the mocking, being critical can be okay depending on how it is presented, ie is it constructive.

I think I just need to give my advice and leave it there. I admit I dont have all the answers - far from it indeed, and also realise that my expertise is 4nl cash and nothing more. Its just when I am sure of myself I have trouble just leaving it at the one post and get drawn into the mocking mode. Acerags thread in BBV being a prime example.

Feel free to PM me when I am stepping the boundary, just yourself though, I am sure there is a limit on the inbox.

    Just seen that thread.
Hmmm, I think it's okay for me to let that one go.

You know what. Disappointed that the 4nl 'don' would leave almost immediately.

    Nevermind.

I start a session with a lot of tables, and close down those with the (relative) better players until I have about 5 tables I am happy with.

Why would I waste time sitting with (semi) competent regs?

Although If you think the sole reason I moved was just because of one player (ie yourself), then your deluded.

A "don" by my definition makes the best decisions to give the most +ve situations. Doesnt let ego tell him to go toe to toe with ok players. I try and iso the droolers and have no shame in admitting it.

We both know the truth CCF :)

I was only coming to give your b/r a boost anyway. Surprised you turned down that opportunity. Twice.

I know enough to realise that your going to be better than most of the other 4nlers.

KK, not even sure why I shoved so soon, dont usually do that.

Note to self, stop pot betting and mix it up

Upon review I think I butchered a lot of these spots.

Cause it's 4NL and Ks cards play well multi-way because you can often get someone's stack if you flop a flush...

For the reason Ivanovic gave, I will limp Kxsuited on the button and one before. So many times pots are limped its not going to cost me much. And i back myself to get away from it when I hit air.

    1) It's a bad habit to get into
    2) You win a bigger pot when you both miss, and take it down with a cbet
    3) You win a bigger pot when you hit a hand and can start value betting
    4) You can steal the blinds which is often underrated in cash
