Sorry Paige if I mislead you by re-using this thread.

Both Tikay and Sky forum guys fully explained the HUD position and I agreed with them.

(A hud is a piece of software that actively tracks other players on your tables and is used by multi-table grinders on some sites - sky don't support them - a position I am grateful of)

Today's posts on this thread have a new context about a rakeback promotion.

Don't know whether or not I agree with sky on the rakeback issue - because I don't know what they have said on it.

I think it's fair enough to use the forum to openly discuss issues amongst the community.

This is airing our "dirty laundry" in semi-private among the users of the site who care enough to interact with each other and sky on it.

Would Sky rather that all gripes were raised on Twitter for all the world to see - not just community members?

The original thread with Sky's "explanation" wasn't deleted, it was simply closed.

    It can be seen here

Thanks. Missed it somehow and searches didn't pick it up.

Still not sure why sky felt the need to close the thread to further discussion and ask for PM feedback only?

I'll keep my thoughts to myself though - seems I'm not allowed to express them.

Shame I might have actually supported Sky like I did on the HUDs but they'll never know now.

FWIW, as most of you'll know, I'm very pro-Sky.

The starting of a million silly threads which are obviously gonna get closed will obviously not solve anything, but I think it's borne out of frustration when a thread was potentially unnecessarily closed.

The more I think about it, the more I think there probably wasn't any point keeping the thread open because there's not much left to discuss. Sky explained that they're doing it to try to get new players in/improve liquidity etc. Now we can argue about whether these type of sites bring in the 'right kind of traffic' to do this or whether we believe it to be fair or not to existing customers but obviously Sky have already looked into these things and made their decisions.

Suffice to say, no point discussing it on here anymore imo.

    1. Agreed
    2. Agreed
    3. Disagree
    4. Ok but...

All businesses of all types have existing customers who they want to keep happy and get more business from and people who are with competitors who they would like to attract.

Even the banks have cottoned on that people switch for better deals and this upsets existing loyal customers and have started promoting loyalty bonuses as well as the new deals.

Now there is a subset of loyal sky customers who watch the shows / post on the forums as well as play regularly whether as a casual rec or more seriously.

I would just urge Sky to keep any debate that affects their existing customers open - by closing that thread too early it fuelled the flames of new threads and got out of control.

I note that the reward Sky offer merely keeps them on a level playing field with most of the other sites.

Perhaps other ideas to bring in new customers and satisfy existing ones might come forward if Sky asked the question.

E.g. what if the refer a friend scheme resulted in higher rake for the referrer and referee.

If RTR members don't get loyalty club membership - how about improving that as both a reward to the loyal members who achieve it and as an incentive for new RTR members to play more?

You can't please all the folk all the time, but you sure will upset a lot of folk if you don't let them have their say.
