Newcastle travel to Cardiff in the Premier League tomotoow. Is that the longest away trip in the Premier League, if not, what is? Some cute match-ups, too, Man C v Everton, & Man U away to Sunderland. Last weekend BOTH the Manchester clubs lost, & the bookies all cheerred. Can it happen again? Meanwhile, Palace are away to Liverpool. Cricket score likely here, with Suarez back, ready to huff & puff, or can Palace spring a surprisey thing? Posted by Tikay10
Haven't googled the difference between Newcastle Southampton v Newcastle Cardiff
However a simple grasp of welsh geography means Newcastle v Swansea has to be a longer trip than Cardiff.
Talking of Jeff, I actually bumped into him last week, also saw Chris Kamara in the canteen. Anyone met someone famous, if so, who, where, when, what? Please be selective with your answers, I don't wanna see this man's name appear...... Posted by Tikay10
Kevin Hector had some great managers during his career, Brian Clough, Alf Ramsey and er ....... Me.
Derby v Leeds tomorrow. Can we beat Dirty Leeds for the tenth consecutive time?
Off course we can. Steve Mclarens black and white army.

Met Freddie Flintoff once in St Tropez
We (wife + 2 boys and I) were strolling along the quayside generally admiring the harbour, super-yachts and looking for somewhere we could afford to eat when my wife spots Freddie sitting on a wall with his daughter in a buggy while his wife had popped into a shop.
I approached him with my 2 lads and he was an absolute gent - shook my hand and let me take a picture with 2 boys.
The first thing he said to me was "nice shirt mate"
moments like that you know will remember for as long as the brain cells are functioning - the amazing part was that Freddie remembered it.
This was the summer of 2005 in the gap between 2nd and 3rd ashes tests. Freddie had taken a break and in his autobiography he referred to being surprised to "meet a bloke in a Preston North End shirt"

I met steve collins at the before dinner party of the ricky hatton v jose luis castiilo fight in boston in 2006, spent a good hour talking boxing & listen to how much he hated don king then he took my boxing magazine found a pic of don king drew glasses & a tash then signed it. Also went to the after fight party & met ricky but i was alil worse for wear by then. Good times tho.
Same as evryone else it seems : In the pub watching Jeff Sterling sweating over goals galore coupons and maybe some live poker and probably online at some point
Basically gambling, drinking and watching sport - Tis the weekend tho
Coming home from a sheffield night club 3am in a service station, a car load of scouse lads spot ken dodd trying to look inconspicuous in a rain mac and fedora hat. He seemed overwhelmed and couldn't be bothered with the racous attention, but gave us all signed photos anyway. Was a very surreal experience given the inebriation. Also had a gang of brookside actresses turn up at an afterparty at my mates house. We met some of their mates in a club. Things were going ok, until my mate darren who has been staring at one with a puzzled look since she turned up finally twigs where he's seen her before.... a sex tape posted on the internet. They left soon after, gg darren, wp

With footballers in mind - Kenny Dalglish at Blackpool a few years back . Was my idol as a kid but certainly more memorable was Gazza as it wasn,t busy in the bottom of an arcade in Bpool one miserable winter weeknight when playing for Spurs (they were away at the lashers for a cup match) . He was with ( Carlo Citrones idol) Terry Venables (manager ) and Linekar and Gary Mabbutt who i believe is still good friends with him today. They had to wait for the technichians to put this ride back on for them as it had closed and there were only me and a few friends about. They signed our tops and football coupons. Didn,t have paper or pens so used girls lipstick but it was a gr8 chance just to talk to them normally and see him cracking jokes .Gazza was at his peak at the time (despite the lifestyle he was leading ) and will always be a football ledgend in my eyes.
Must have been a while ago as i was on YTS at Barretts Shoes (Sold a pair trainers to the long haired one in Status Qoe and that little fat one out of the roly polys on the Les Dawson Show that used to go accross at the end - still got vivid memories of that one and not good)
Super League Final, too, not much between Warrington & Wigan. Do we have any Rugby League fans here, or anyone going to the game? Posted by Tikay10
Big rugby league fan and like sky jordan a big leeds rhinos fan. Alas this year it wasnt to be. I am usually a fixture at old trafford for the grand final but someone has to watch the young un hence the time of this post. We are both full of cold so a few hot toddies watching it on the idiot box. I have a lovely bottle of port given to me with my name on too for the boxing later before resurfacing at about 5 o clock tomorrow morning again.

I met Martin Keown on holiday in Barcelona, this was about 12 years ago when he was coming towards the end of his illustrious tropy filled career with Arsenal (sob).
We where in a tour bus going round the city, when Martin and his family got on the bus. I was sat there for five minutes thinking who is that man ! The next stop was the olympic stadium and it twigged, my ex didnt have a clue why I was getting hysterical. I plucked up the courage to have a chat with Martin, very articulate man as we all now know with his tv punditry, nothing like the hard man he was on the pitch, Ruud Van Nistlerooy can verify that!
Anyway, we walked into the Olympic stadium and I managed to get a photo of me with Martin overlooking the running track. The same place that Linford Christie won gold in 92, how cool is that!
Of all the places to meet a footballer of the team your support, small world and all that. The next stop was the nou camp!
Also met Romford Pele earlier this year for a Cheltenham Gold cup corporate bash, but he was a booked after lunch speaker along with tuffers and jason leonard. Good bash mind !
Quite a hectic weekend for me!! tonight im at Broadway casino in brum for the £40 deepstack, usually gets 100+ runners so a decent prizepool Then tomorrow morning ive got the monthly stableford at the golf club......followed by going to watch the Worcester warriors (surely off the mark this match!!!) with a night out planned in the night obv!! Monthly medal on sunday morning and then an afternoon of football on the sofa!! Posted by maximus66

Hope your wife is soon back at home. How far is the journey, where to & from?
Saw you on a few of my DYM Tables last night, you had a few shocking beats, but I think you did OK in the end. There are some breathtaking calls in those DYM's, but you just have to take the rough with the smooth, & we are never far ahead - or behind - in PLO8.
I ran terribly in my first 3 @ £5.50, lost all three, lol, but I just plugged away all evening & eventually my luck turned & I got nicely out of it. I play the £5.50's & the £11's, but the £11's don't run very often, think I only played 3 all night, but my run-good was in them, so that helped me make a profit on the day. Only about £20, but I got 4 hours relaxing fun for that, & racked up a few Reward Points.
We do over-complicate poker sometimes, but if I could just nick £20 or £30 a day, I'd be a very happy man, & that'd nearly pay for a Vegas trip next year. I want to do Vegas 2014 more than anything else in poker. We shall see.

Thanks Tikay - My wife is recovering well - long slow process but hoping very much to have her home this week. It will be 4 weeks this Tuesday since she went in. The journey is Preston - Leeds and back. Bad weather and rush hours can make that not so pleasant.
Only joined you on one PLO8 £5 DYM last night and yes it was a bit of a bad beat fest. Managed to pick some good shoving hands to rebuild stack though and held on though ftw - think you cashed too.
I was in a PLO MTT at the same time - which wasn't a good idea - reading texture of flops takes time and mixing the 2 formats caused a bit of brain ache but luckily no false moves.
£20 a day = Vegas is a nice way of looking at it GL
I'm just playing for relaxation atm, maybe set myself a challenge to treat my wife to a nice holiday when home life is more settled.
Still thinking about whether to play the lottery tonight
Really don't like the price hike and I just let my monthly direct debit finish
The problem is that same no's have been used since the 1st ever draw
Mathematically that shouldn't matter - but I picked the no's with with my wife and have meaning. If they come up we'd know! Psychologically we are heavily invested in continuing to play.
Anyone else having this dilemma today?
I am leaning towards just playing the Saturday draw so that overall it is not costing me any more to play

This is the problem with knowing your numbers! I play it frequently but only do lucky dips. It's a mind thing. If my numbers came up when I didn't enter........ at least with LDs I don't know the numbers (and the odds don't change!)
The only person I ever met who could be classed as famous was Ian Lavender (Private Pike from Dad's Army). Many years ago, when I was working in a bank, he came in to cash a cheque. True to Private Pike's form he put the wrong date on it. Thankfully, I managed to stop myself making the obvious "stupid boy" comment.
F1 travels to Korea of all placed this weekend, where Mr Vettel bids to seal his World Championship - I hope. I've had a weird bet in this, being..... Will there be a Safety Car - YES/NO I've gone for...... YES Posted by Tikay10
Interesting! There is a typhoon in the area which could hit the circuit. Forecast models currently suggest a 40% chance of precipitation and 55 mph winds which would almost certainly bring out the safety car, however that forecast is changing on an hour-by-hour basis.
I'd say that's a good bet though! Price?
Also, Vettel can't seal the title this weekend, regardless of what happens.
Before anyone asks, I'm not a weatherman, but I am one of the biggest F1 fans on the planet :-)

Morning all.
Ooh, love all these "famous people" stories, keep them coming.
Cracking weekend that, enjoy.
What handicap you play off?
How did the Broadway Tourney go last night?
