Sorry, blummin' spelling auto-correction is to blame. Should have read 'parade'...
Well this might take some explaining, but here we go. It must have been about 4 or 5 years ago. After some quite traumatic personal circumstances, I found myself living in a homeless hostel, and my life was going downhill at a rapid pace of knots. I was drinking far too much and generally gave up on everything.
I had watched poker on tv quite some years before and thought it was ok, nothing special, but I thought I had a basic understanding of the game.
I happened to walk past a pub in my hometown, and seen that they were advertising a poker game on that night. So I decided to pop along and see what it was like. Well I turned up at the proper time, looking like a right scruff, but to my amazement, rather than pre judging me, the players were very friendly and helped me enormously.
To cut a long story short, the pub played in a league, so I turned up every week, met some great friends, and got my life back on track.
Im now happily married to a very special woman, lovely house and a job that I love, even tho I have moved down south I still keep in touch with my poker friends, so that's when I first fell in love with poker,im not saying that poker saved my life, but it did rescue it.
