Deer Hunter? Who or what is that?
I agree as to light-hearted though. Jeez, some days I dread opening the Community, for fear of more serial chuntering. The world seems full of missogs some days. When I were a lad, if I'd moaned I'd have got a good slap, but in these enlightened times, that is generally disapproved of......
Dad, I don't want to go to school today.
Shut up, & eat your porridge before I give you a clip round the ear.
Fair enough, though at the time, it seemed rather (brace yourself...) gruel.......

Please excuse my puns, be they surreal, serial, or cereal.
In Response to Re: Russian Roulette : u could of named me in person gary lol won the league 3 times in a row back in the day when the loophole of points was worth exploiting.even got the name Russian czar by my team captain of the dragons lol. but I will say they were worth doing back then but now only for a bit of light relief. I wasn't thinking of you funnily enough. The screen-name I have in mind still plays on the site (not RR anymore), so I won't be mentioning him here. He packed in a high volume for ages and his forum posts made it clear he was a very unhappy chap when the monthly leagues got scrapped.

i think all in sats for players like me might be burning money. but for good players like lambert i think they might be +ev a £11 entry fee for an average player is worth £11 for a good player, with a decent shot at cashing it maybe worth £14. lambert might pay £1.20 for an £11 prize but if he has a MTT roi of 30% then the prize is worth more. so overlay, innit. I disagee.
Let's ignore overlay for the minute. In the long run each seat won via an all-in sat costs you 10% more than a direct buy-in (assuming the all-in sat is raked at 10%, adjust as necessary). So a seat that costs £33 direct will cost £36.30 if you use all-in sats for example.
Therefore if we say Paul has an expected ROI in the tournament of 30% (again adjust as you see fit lol) he has already given up 10% of that by using the satellites, so it now falls to 20%. One third of his ROI has gone up in smoke before playing a single hand. Obviously doing anything that reduces your ROI is inadvisable.
Saying that, if as he says he only buys into carefully selected all-in sats that run with significant overlay, ie more than enough to compensate for the rake, then fair enough, that turns his all-in entries into a small +ev gamble and will have a positive impact on his ROI.
The best example was last nights all in sats, 1x £110 seat guaranteed £3 buy in, at first they were getting 50+ runners so i gave them a miss, but by 8 30 they were getting less than 30 runners and by 9 o clock they were running every minute with under 20 runners, i think everyone playing them was already in the tournament and just looking for the big value. I played about 15/20 of them and binked 2 seats after i bought it so from then on i felt like i was freerolling the event.
I used to play them occasionally, just when I felt like I was playing badly and wanted to make some money without using any skill - however that stopped when I got AA in a Russian Roulette game and got beat -.-
For some reason, everytime I think about Russian Roulette games I just think of the Sky Promo Video and James Hartigan saying "there's no skill involved whatsoever, you don't even have to open the table if you don't want, who better to let fate decide" - just stuck in my mind for some reason xD

I don't mind paying for fun.
Get outa here, we don't need your sort here. Poker is serious business.
