Not impressed

So i take a look at the results page as i do every morning, and what do i see...

A guy that subjected me and others to vile abuse less than a week ago makes a big cash in the Primo.

I did report it at the time, and maybe he has been chat banned, but given the nature of the abuse he should have been banned from playing on here.
If you did that at a football match it would be an automatic lifetime ban.

    It's really frustrating Vespa.
This thread will be closed and you'll be told to report it to Customer Care.
A number of people I know have done just that.
Then, next time you play,  you see them there again doing exactly the same thing.

I find it so bizarre that Sky will close threads so quickly over trivial things.
Yet chatbox abuse seems to be constantly ignored.
No doubt we'll be told that these things are taken seriously. Just doesnt seem like it sometimes.

    Agreed Jac
Need stronger action to stamp it out.

Its quite telling really that if you posted something like he did, in the chat box ,on Twitter or Facebook you would probably be arrested.

I have found this incredibly unfair in the past also. I believe the victim of the abuse should get a full report on what punishment the culprit recieved, there may be some reasons why this cant be done but this is how it works in the real world. Hearing its "been dealt with" really doesnt cut it.

For the fan watching/abusing the players, not for the players on the pitch.

You can punch/bite//spit at/ try to break the leg of an opponent and not be banned for life as a player, not even close.

    Chat ban sufficient.

I would probably get a forum ban for doing that.

    A long suspension then?
Wonder how a casino would deal with it.
Tell the player not to say anything for the rest of the evening?

I hope nobody does, as that would never be acceptable to the Business.

I really hope the thread remains open, so these things can be discussed in an adult & sensible manner, but the suggestion of "name & shame" would work against that.

if you post racist remarks on most types of social media then the matter is passed onto police and the account it was made from is swiftly closed. why should sky poker be any different?

    Prob throw him out.

Not sure that's a valid comparison again either, because this isn't a casino.

Just a chatban fixes the problem, it's gone away now, it wont happen again.

His punishment is not being able to chat/use the forum. If anything sky are probably punishing him by keeping his account open as most of these kind of players lose money at the game. So sky/us punters will profit from him being able to play.

Said before there's much bigger issues on the site than stuff like this which go unpunished. At least (presumably) they took some action on this occasion. Although it wouldn't surprise me if they hadn't.

The problem is that the victim who has been abused and reported it has no way of knowing if anything has been done. This can be very frustating and makes you think whats the point of reporting it.
There must be someway of informing the victim what (if anything) has been done.
Is there anyone out there who can tell me that they have recieved a warning or know of someone who has been repremanded for their chat because I dont and have no way of knowing if anything is ever done about this.

It's an offence under s1 of the malicious communications act and you can forward to the police to investigate. Sky will be obliged to pass on details of the alleged offender. Probably the threat of same would suffice but I'd progress it if it happened to me.

I wasn't on the rail so I didn't see any of this happening, but racism in any form - and on any level - is disgusting. We are all adults here, but as usual, it seems maturity does not go hand in hand with that. I am sorry you were subjected to this Vespa. Unfortunately, it will never stop. 99% of the world belongs to good people. The rest will always be morons.

Hate to try simplify this but Vespa if you are sat with this guy again turn off chat!! not a great solution as you,ll miss the normal good natured banter, but you won,t have to put up with a complete D--- H---, insert any other appropriate words, last thing don,t let the B------ grind you down or impinge on your enjoyment of poker and this site! gl

True, Ive had something similar from a player that follows me and abuses me despite not even playing at the table. He also does it to several other players. He has two accounts which is seemingly taken very seriously yet he continues to use them both.

I give up I just stick him on ignore now. Great new option from sky btw ehich you might find handy vespa.
