Never really got going tonight. Don't feel I played my best in the main, couple of spots and calls that I could've got away from. Dribbled chips away. Eventually shipped the BB with a raggy ace vs a button open, got it in good but couldn't hold.

Very up and down in the challenger BH, picked up a couple of heads, but busted when someone runner runnered my flopped top 2.

Got a min cash + in the mini. 4bet jammed AK that couldn't get there vs JJ. Would've given me a top 6ish stack and a decent chance at the FT, where all the money is. So no grumbles about going for it, just wasn't to be.

Undecided what to do tomorrow. Last day of UKOPS so should be having a bash, but these £110 MTT's soon add up! Even more so when you chuck in the various side tourneys and sats. Might just play the DTD games, always good crack at the tables and much more emphasis on the 'fun' side of poker.

Pretty much rinse and repeat from last night. Didn't play the UKOPS main, busted a £12 direct sat for it on the cash bubble in a harsh manner, so didn't really feel like stumping up another £110. Another min cash + in the side rebuy. Standard blind on blind exit. 2 deep runs in 2 days in the minis but alas all the money is up top and I keep falling short.

Unsure what to do tomorrow night. My flatmate is on holiday at the moment, so I have a free flat right in the centre of York. Mentioned this to a few friends for a potential social gathering to see the new year in. But woke up this morning really not in the mood. Never really been a big fan of NYE; expensive, crowded and often ends up being a pretty average night. But the alternative is sitting in with a few cans, playing poker. I do this almost every night, should probably mix it up and get in the spirit.

Might see what VickiPKR is doing, perhaps they can inspire me.

Winding down with a bit of Father Ted. The greatest sitcom ever made?....

Happy new year to all at Sky poker :)

    Father Ted is fabulous

I was going to do this on my thread but as you're struggling on here....

Most under rated comedies or ones that went under the radar?

I'll give you Early Doors for starters
    The Thick of It
    Drop the Dead Donkey
    ..

I know what you mean about New Years Eve. Everyone pretending to have the best time ever. However, don't stay in tomorrow night mate. Play poker another night.

Why do you want to see what a bloke is doing?

Always thinking of others eh ;)

Comedies....Probably not under rated but I think Brass Eye is hilarious. Still have a soft spot for Trigger Happy TV, though I doubt I'd find it as funny now in my old age. Fave tv show ever, though not strictly a comedy, is Six Feet Under. Sublime television, stuffed with subtle black comedy. My Dad likes Early Doors but I've yet to get round to watching it.

Yeah I'm sure this time tomorrow night I'll be half cut and nowhere near the virtual felt. City are lunchtime K/O on the 1st as well so my liver is in for a cracking start to the year. Think it's a pretty awful slot for the City fans having to get 7am trains down to Swansea on NYD for an early kick off, but thats a whole other argument....

Trigger Happy TV was good. You're right though. Saw it again a while ago and didn't seem the same.
You would love Early Doors. Watch it.

Never seen Six Feet Under. Just one of those that I missed for some reason. Should get round to it.

    Vickipkr as most underrated comedy??!

    Genuine suggestions:
Best British - I'm Alan partridge
Best American -Seinfeld (arrested development is cracking too)

Not sure they count as underrated though.

Fawlty towers and Mrs Brown's Boys are good shouts!

"I'm Alan Partridge" seems to be popular, but I've personally always found him annoying. Possibly because I had him on the TV for like 6 hours straight when I was on holiday in Switzerland once - yep, they had some type of Alan Partridge marathon in Switzerland for some reason ..

I'm pretty sure Malcolm didn't want his diary turned into a 'what is the best sitcom' thread, but seeing as it has been started:

Seinfeld at its best, was fantastic.
Frasier was consistently funny and clever, until about Season Five.
Only Fools and Horses is the best British sitcom.

...not strictly sitcoms, but Curb Your Enthusiasm, New Girl, and The Middle are three of the best comedy shows of the last decade.

And yes, Malcolm, Six Feet Under is great. Jac - pick it up.

Not entirely sure what happened last night. Had a few friends over, the beer was flowing. Along with various other beverages. No idea when they left, as my next memory is waking up on the sofa just before I threw up. Classy.

I've also bent the clothes horse.

Watched City down the local, couldn't face a beer so stuck to coffee and coke. Not that coke! Another good performance, think the scoreline flatters Swansea a bit but they gave us a decent game. That Bony is a useful player, cracking 2nd goal by him, Vinny had his hands full with him all afternoon. Hopefully the whole 'City are poor away from home' stuff shall soon be put to bed. Our recent away form is actually pretty good, it's just those few early blips at places like Cardiff and Villa that seem to stick in the memory more than winning all 3 Champions League away games, for example.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

Onto the pokers. Favourite main of the week tonight. One I've been lucky enough to win previously. Had a ridiculous 4 week period around August/September in this tournament. 4 consecutive final table finishes including that outright victory and a 2nd after Bolly580 owned me HU. Hopefully have a good run tonight, shall be jackpot hunting as well.

I'm not one to really set goals, but there are a few things I'd like to happen this year. Managed to get as high as 19th on the SS leaderboard for profit on Sky last year, before completely falling off it. So would be nice to get on it again and stay on it this time. And also this new main and mini leaderboard thing that has been concocted on the forum, would be nice to get on that and give the tournament big hitters a run for their money.

Could go on about this whole PS4 thing.....shame people can't be more appreciative. Sky don't have to do this, or any promo. As TommyD has said, perhaps it could've been a bit clearer for the Priority peeps, but by excluding them it gives a whole bunch of people the chance to win a new console. Whats not to like? Quite a lot, according to some people on here. They know who they are! How can people complain about being given the opportunity to win a PS4? Sigh.

Right, anyway. Anyone selling a clothes horse?

    Happy new year all.

Evening avid reader. No need to pluralise reader :(

Swerving the main and mini tonight. Not a huge fan of the BH main events. Glad to see the Primo making a return in favour of the Saturday night BH, but as I said in that thread it makes a weekend pretty expensive MTT wise; £55 Primo, £110 Roller, chuck in the 2 mini events and its a £180+ outlay. Can't be bricking too many of these...

Might dabble on the MC tables whilst watching the show and playing the odd MTT.

    .................................................

Touched upon it in the opening post....travel. I absolutely love it, and am pretty fortunate to have visited quite a few countries. I went backpacking for a few months back in 2010. Had an amazing time, but had to cut it short as I ran out of money. I am going somewhere with this btw! So yeah, had to scrap most of SE Asia and fly home. This has kinda knawed away at me ever since. I'm now in a position (since splitting with the gf last year), that I don't really have anything keeping me here. I have a job I dislike, I don't have a mortgage or kids or anything like that. And thanks to poker I have a nice sum of money tucked away that could pretty much fund a new adventure. I've been looking at one way flights and have found the one for me that fits, in September. Now my question for you faceless people of the internet, is this pretty wreckless walking away from full time employment and a flatshare (well, he owns it, I rent the spare bedroom from my mate), at what will be the age of 27 and 1/2, to go and backpack round parts of Asia? For maybe 5/6 months, and then come back to nothing basically.

Kinda rambling here so apologies! Just feel it's quite a dilemma. Part of me thinks 'just go for it, have an amazing time, and worry about other stuff on return', but the other part is leaning towards the 'get a grip' mentality. I'd be 28 on return, with little to no money behind me, unemployed, probably have to move back home for a while, and all for what? A few months living out of a backpack. I'm getting old :(

Any thoughts are welcome and appreciated. Not sure what I hope people say tbh....

Regrets are just things you havent done yet, innit.

Coming back to no job is just forcing you to find a job you actually enjoy.

You have no responsibilties, a family that will support you, and are in your 20's with money to spew.

The milkybars are on you, harry.

    Do it imo.

Thanks for the input fellas. Food for thought indeed....

Drive on the tellybox right now, great film. Also have a soft spot for Carey Mulligan. Watch 'Shame' if you also have that same soft  spot ;) Proving a very pleasant distraction from various chores I should be getting done.

Bonus weekend off. City early K/O away at Blackburn in the cup. Should be a decent game. Drinking from half 12, when I'm supposed to be going out tomorrow night, could be a recipe for disaster. Thankfully I'm a nice drunk ;) probably nicer drunk than when I'm sober!

Not much time for pokers this weekend. Only made the cash WW freebie thing (though I'm slightly dubious about this). Shame they will be paying out the top 3,778 spots by the looks of things, would much prefer a top heavy structure, but that UKPC seat makes it worth taking semi seriously. Undecided about the Roller on Sunday; hangover will dictate much of what I do, if anything, on Sunday.

Have a good weekend one and all.

Just the 3 dtd games for me tonight. Ran like Jesus in one of them, the other 2 were less kind. Special mention to a recent UKPC seat winner for dishing out some filthy beats ;)

Cruised into the money in dtd1. Was chip leader for most of it. Think I had 5x the average stack at one point. Did an ill timed bluff just after the bubble burst that put me back to 3rd, but nothing too desperate.

Then picked up AK spades in the BB, SB had AK diamonds, almost even stacks. It all goes in pre for a 60bb pot. To say I was outflopped is an understatement... 3 diamonds on the flop, GG! As a final rubdown, my bowl of a stack goes in next hand with 99, only to find AKd guy has 1010. GG again!

Funny old game eh, literally cruising into the money and beyond. Then one mistake by me, followed by a cold deck slapping me right in my chops, and it's a one way taxi to a min cash. But the dtd games ain't about the money, always good banter at the tables playing with like minded people. Plus I had Larson7 in my back pocket, bless him ;)

    ....................................................................

Looks like I'm sorted for Barcelona. Gone completely against the advice of Tikay and got a hotel (or hotels even) near Las Ramblas. Sorry Teeks! Also spending 2 nights in Lloret De Mar, making a mini holiday out of it. Something to look forward to in amongst the usual January doom and gloom.

Could be worse though, I could be a United fan....
