Looks like we were both emphatically outflopped! We'll get our revenge next week :)

    ..................................................

Just read that Gus Hansen is $8m in the hole for 2013, and down almost $15m lifetime online. I, and I'm sure many others, simply cannot comprehend these figures. This might be a silly question, but where does he get his money from?! I know he's had some big live scores, and I bet he is well looked after by FTP, but $15m?! How many other professions are out there where you can lose the best part of 10 million quid and still be considered a ''professional'' in your field?

Clough brings back bad memories :( God, he was useless for us despite his reputation.

Seems to be doing ok in Sheffield. Can't be easy with his name after all his father did....

Quite enjoy the 9.30pm BH, even more so now it's GTD has been boosted to 3k. Think the standard in it is generally not too great, and there is some decent sums up top (think it was £440 + HP tonight). I of course just busted it about 50th, but took a few heads with me. Could've gone deeper but 2 consecutive hands sent me packing; m/r called it off B v B with A10, only for the BB to wake up with QQ. Put me down to about 13bb, but pick up AQ the very next hand, and the shorty in the cutoff goes all in for about 8bb. I obv reshove the button with AQ, but Mr big stack in the BB has AK. Sort it out Sky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wednesday rebuy main is now up to 8k gtd. Shall be giving it a bash tomorrow night, maintain it's the best tournament on the site outside of maybe the Roller.

Occasionally have a look at the high stake action that runs on the Sky cash tables. Clocked a guy tonight playing £2.50/£5 and £5/£10 vs well known cash and MTT players on the site. The guy in question used to frequent the 4nl tables as recently as July when I was also grinding out at that level. I thought he was too good for that level, and had notes to tread carefully vs him, but to see him now playing up to 1000nl just half a year later..... Meteoric rise? Taking a shot? Binked a massive score elsewhere? Who knows eh!

Yesterday was fun. Scraped a min cash in the main. Had a reasonable run in the mini, ultimately falling in 8th. First points in the bag for the leaderboard :)

Was still in both tournaments past midnight, so you do start to dream of taking them both down. Alas it wasn't to be, but still pretty satisfying cashing in both main and mini on the same night.

Couple of little nuggets from yesterday....I couldn't get the lobby to work in the ME. Just wouldn't load for some reason. I guessed we were probably about 6 or 7 spots from the bubble, and as I was nursing a very short stack (hovered around 9bb), I was shipping any decent hand or spot. TBH I was shipping most hands when first in, as I knew I had to keep my head above water if I wanted to get in the monies. So for a couple of orbits I was jamming pretty wide and getting it through. Then the message pops up that we were going hand for hand, yet we'd only lost one person since my estimate. By now, I'd managed to pinch enough chips to lift myself about 6 spots from the bottom, and thus got into the money without much of a sweat. What would've happened had I been able too view the lobby? Had I seen that we were on the bubble bubble, would I have passed 10 7s UTG? I feel, looking back, that being ignorant of the lobby info got me into the money. Would it be foolish to play a full MTT without looking at the lobby once? Probably only one way to find out ;)

A big leak in my game is paying people off when I know I'm not good. Can get away with this at the cash tables to a degree (I play recreationally and well within my limits), but when in the last 10 of an MTT, its something I need to eradicate from my game. Happened again last night. 5 handed with AQs, I standard m/r from a pretty short stack (15bb or so), and I got just over min 3bet from a similar stack size. I knew exactly what he had, something that crushed me. Yet I still couldn't find the fold. I talked myself into shipping, going completely against my instinct and experience. Yep, he had KK. Yep, like a lucky fish I flopped the A, and then dodged far too many outs on the turn to scoop the pot. Can someone advise on how I can look to rid this from my game? I recognise its a problem, yet I can't help myself! Any tips much appreciated folks.

Alongside the 2 MTT's last night, was trying to rinse Orford of his bankroll at a 10nl table. Was good fun, with other notable faces like Geldy and Slipwater also playing, and Paige railing. Don't think I've missed anyone out there ;) ....banter was flowing in the chatbox, and running commentaries on how we were doing in the various tourneys seemed to annoy a certain regular. Well if he reads this, I have one word, or abbreviation, for him....PEH.

That is a huge leak in my game too especially if I see a flop and hit bottom or second pair and convince myself that I must be good here and see oppo turn over top pair.  Nobodies perfect I suppose, well David Moyes is getting close to it at the moment!  Good luck and run well mate

I like being an 'unemployed travel agent'.

Got a few days holiday I needed to use at work, so taken the week after next off. Convinced the flatmate to take a few days off too as I'd seen P & O (other ferry companies are available) we're doing BOGOF on mini cruises to Bruges. Did one to Amsterdam a few years ago and was good fun, and quite fancy seeing what Bruges has to offer so this worked out well. Went to go and book it tonight, and that part of the website just wasn't playing ball. Tried it on another computer but still no joy despite repeated attempts. Was gonna give up for the night and hope the offer was still there tomorrow, when I thought I'd try and book it as a simple ferry sailing as opposed to a 'mini cruise'.

Result! Not only was it the same price with everything included, I also managed to swindle a 'Premier Cabin' for the same price as a standard cabin. So my mild ferry tilt at the offer page not loading turned into essentially a free upgrade with a bit of digging around the site.

Moral of the story? Well, there is no moral really. But if any forum guys want something travel related looking for, don't hesitate to give me a shout. Gazza127 can vouch for this ;)

Have a great weekend all, and run well at the tables.

The Wife and I went on a fantastic Caribbean cruise in 2010. I was dubious to begin with - thinking it would be wall-to-wall false teeth - but I was pretty far off the mark, and I'm glad to say that's an old stereotype which is fast becoming irrelevant. It was a fantastic experience, and one I'd fully recommend to anyone.

But with all that 'free' food... buy a larger pair of trousers.

So the general consensus seems to be that I should go travelling. No one in favour of staying put and being all sensible? Anyone?!

All you have to do Gazza is say the word.....

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ponied up for the Roller last night. Was going pretty well, hovered around average or above for most of it. Then anyone who was watching the show will probably have seen my dubious exit hand. I say dubious, as I really shouldn't have gone broke there vs that villain. I've played him a few times before and I don't really rate his game from what I've seen (anyone who saw his Q6 peel hand not long after he bust me will understand why), but then that reflects pretty badly on my game as I simply couldn't let go of the bullets vs him, despite him basically telegraphing trips with his action. Sigh, I'll get him next time. Pleased to see DivsDreams take it down. Often share tables with him, which is annoying as he's very good! He is certainly crushing at the moment, must be nice.

So what do you do when you bust like £125 of poker tournaments in an evening? You organise a trip to Las Vegas of course! Only been once before, and that was back in 2011, so very much looking forward to it. Yet again my travel booking experience has helped significantly. My mate had sourced a flight back from LV to Manchester on Friday 9th May for just over a couple hundred, but couldn't find anything reasonable going out the weekend before. Travelling from Manchester or London would've taken it to £700 return. Bit steep. Less steep if you fly from Dublin however. Gonna be a bit of an arduous journey there, as I'm flying Manchester - Dublin, night in Dublin before an early morning flight to Gatwick on the 4th, then hopping on the Virgin Atlantic service to Vegas that lunchtime. But even factoring in the extra cost of flying to Dublin and staying the night there, it's pretty much saved me about £150 vs the alternative option. Which has more than covered the cost of accomodation; gone somehwhat budget but 5 nights at Stratosphere in an upgraded room for under 100 sheets was too good to turn down. An expensive evening sorting it all out, but feel I've got a decent amount for the money involved.

Bruges, Barcelona and Las Vegas all before May. Not sure I'll need to backpack after all ;)

Haha, I'm not gonna lie to you, cruises ain't my strong point! Flights good. Hotels fine. Cruises less so. However, I shall have a peruse and see if there is anything out there that might fit the bill.

By the way, if this is you rambling, then you sure know how to make me and Lambert180 feel bad ;)

Oh Tikay, if you still read this, it's a Virgin Atlantic Boeing 747-400 going out, and a Thomas Cook A330-200 coming back.

I'm a bit of a plane buff myself. Sad I know.

Yeah, you and Lambert really do go on a bit. I much prefer to do short and snappy posts.

Can't believe I'm going to write this, but..
You've got a brain which is why you're hesitating over the travelling.
You and you alone are the only one who can decide whether it's right for you. Pros and cons and all that sort of stuff.

Just maybe take a step back sometimes. Life seems pretty good for you right now. Plenty of breaks away. Very, very jealous to read about the Vegas thing. I'll never do that. Poker may not be going so great presently but long term you will always be a winner at the game. Things aren't so bad.

Whichever way you go will be the right way.
