Hiya - if we have shared tables a few times then I probably do know you - have quite a memory for faces actually!

Yeah the Saturday night Primo is one of the best main events on the site. Looking at around £2.7-3k ftw.  Really nice structure too.  Make sure you play the mini event for the jackpot too!  If you do BI for this then Sky will take £22 of the entry fee, so it will only cost you £33.

Bounty Hunters are popular on the site - slightly more action than normal MTTs.  The prizepool is split in half for the bounties however this does mean that they are lower variance as even if you don't hit the money, quite often you will take a few head prizes down meaning the BI si covered.

The Sunday Roller is the flagship tournie of the week.  £110BI but tonnes of sats running all day - £20kGTD this week.  Another one that is a really good, slow deep structure is the Wednesday night Rebuy and it plays really well.

Say hi next time at DTD and don't be a stranger to the forum!  GL hope it goes well.

Oh and make sure you join in the UKOPS events, start from next Friday -

Oh and 2 things that are a bit unique to Sky Poker than other sites bluffyou2.

The action tends to be 6 max.

There are no antes; this does mean that you can wait a few BBs more than on other sites/live before it becomes an all in or fold situation.

Hi Ryan. Just wondering if you would like a grind challenge. Either hours played or points in a month? I'd go for points if I were you as you don't stand a chance if it were hours played ;). We could bring in amount of bi's won too. Not sure of the finer details, just looking for some inspiration. I sure we could come up with a forfeit for the loser.

    Run good buddy!

Some great stuff in this Ryan, you have showed that you have a great understanding of the game!

What is your view that poker is a young mans game and the older players cant hack it?

I have a friend who is trying to make it in the game but he is really old, and I mean like REALLY old and I am worried he may be past it and would be better to consider a different source of income.

So they didn't have banter back in the old days?
Sorry Wynne but Matt has nothing to apologise for. Being old fashioned does not mean you don't understand banter.
    Banter is ageless.

Agreed, matt's post made me PMSL!! (I guess I must be the old one if I'm literally doing that :P )

I guess wynne your not a fan of Frankie Boyle! He will joke about anything and everyone including himself. He's not racist, ageist or anything like that though because he doesn't discriminate who he makes jokes against.

edit: Just realised this is scotty's well so to not go off-topic here's my non-poker related qn: Who is your favourite comedian?

Fantastic result again last night Ryan.
Do you think think that there could become a stage when you would concentrate on mtts as your main game?
Or will cash always be your preferred choice?

I know Pleno started the year seeing cash as his main source of income but has won the lot mtt wise. Do you see yourself possibly switching your attention more to the mtts as well with the form you're in right now?

Also well done with dealing in the perfect way with one of the railers

Will try and not derail the thread anymore!

Is the motivation for you purely financial, or are you motivated by say admiration of your peers/online rankings/poker allowing you to travel the world etc?

I'm afraid that I can no longer grind like I used too - you'd just clean up in any kind of challenge like this!

Spend too much time away at live poker now too which makes things difficult.  About 18 months or so ago 20k was my usual points tally - now 10-12k is a good month for me!

Bill Burr is currently my top comic - really funny American guy and if you are a fan of Frankie Boyle then you should like him too.  His stand up shows are on Netflix.

    Louis CK too.

Nah MTTs are too swingy!  Last night I was in for £3k in BIs and had a deep run on another site for 2.7k and this one too but bar those I bricked a LOT!

I like my balance at the minute.  Cash is so much more dependable and I enjoy the consistency of it.

Nothing like binking an MTT tho.  Real big rush at any MTT FT!

And yeah one of the set backs of the job is the trolls - thankfully they are few and far between and most people are sensible when one comes around and sees them for what they are. Believe me that was tame compared to some of the characters I've had to deal with in my time!

Yeah money is the number 1 goald.

Don't really care about admiration or peers nor online rankings (never bothered to sign upto Pocket5s etc).  Of course it's nice to be recognised for being a good player/having good results, plus with being a name/face of Sky Poker then it makes sense to do the social media stuff when deep in a big live event.

Even tho I'm not sponsored by Sky and my professional obligations are to the TV channel, some poker media websites still refer to me as the Sky Poker Pro!

Afte the money, the travel and the freedom of being a poker professional is by far the most important factor.

One thing that is really close to my heart is promoting responsible gambling, seeing people enjoy their poker while also learning more about the game step by step.  That is and always will be far more important to me than getting praise from the kind of people that populate 2plus2 or a load of MTT 'sickos' that are upto their eyeballs in makeup.  I've had the lolpro tag many times from people who have to sell 80pc at 1.2 to fund 200$ online schedule - I really couldn't care less about what that type of player thinks of me or my game.

Congrats ryan on your greqt run, I was wondering as a pro whats your position on deals in poker, selling or swapping percentages in others and the decisions that arise when both situations occur together?

Deals - can totally agree why they should be allowed when it is huge money uptop.   Of course it has to be a good deal for all parties. Sadly only had the opportunity to be in that position once where I did a deal with Sky reg Doobs on another sites 1kHR event.

Selling pieces - I sell pieces for any event over £1k.  This is standard as a pro.  Sometimes it will be at markup, and sometimes just at face value.  You won't find many pros with more than 60% of themselves in big events!  It reduces the variance and if you sat into a large buyin event then it covers the expenses.  Once had this thrown in my face as not being a proper pro as I sold 30-40% of my action in EPTs LOL!

Swapping pieces - yeah I certainly prefer this to selling pieces.  Love the sweat and a great way to reduce your variance.  Helps with friendships too.  Of course would only do this with people who I trust in this situation as I don't want to feel like I'm being in a negavtive freeroll scenario.  Ability is important too but trust is def the biggest factor.

I also buy a reasonable amount of action and have done fairly well but again it is only with people who I know fairly well.
