    Request for shares allocation to be upped to 8 please. £40 has been transferred to your account. Thank to Wynne for coming up with the idea and thank you Father for putting in the time to organize this. I'll thank Neil on Saturday afternoon ;)

    If shares are still being accepted, can I be put down for 2 please? I love to gamble the scoop 6 when the jp gets big, but given I know next to nothing about the nags this will hopefully give me a far more exciting run for my money!

    IMPORTANT POST

    Hi all,

    It looks like we will have around £500 for our first go at the Scoop6.

    Picking the horses is bad enough but getting the perm right is also important.

    Here are some we can afford around the £500 mark

    2x3x3x3x2x2 = £432 -  2x3x3x3x3 x2 is to expensive
    2x3x2x2x2x4 =£384 -2x3x3x2x2x4 is just to expensive at £576
    2x2x2x2x4x4 =£512 which looks good

    but hold on

    4x4x4x2x2x1 =£512 as well

    but why go to a perm with only one horse in it. Well let me explain

    It is being suggested that unless the 2000 guineas falls apart in respect of runners that will be the last leg.
    Kingman is likely to be short odds for that race.
    Now suppose Kingman is our one and only horse for the 2000 guineas. By doing that perm we would have increased our chances of getting to the last race.
    Scenario- if we haven't got five out of five by time of 2000 guineas with 4x4x4x2x2x1 then we wouldn't have got there with less numbers in other races. By doing this perm we have optimised our chances of getting to last race.
    But you say whats the point of doing that if we are short for last race and lose Scoop 6 because Kingman doesn't win.?

    I would say the most we would probably have in that race would be two and even they might both lose. But if we only have one, Kingman, then if we have five out of five before last race we all have the chance to win our stake back by laying Kingman at a good price on the exchanges. If he wins we win the scoop6 , if he loses we get our stake money and more back from the lay. OK you say other people will have Kingman and we wont win the scoop6 outright if he wins 2000. Other syndicates might not, and it is a big might, might not get there because they havent covered as many horses earlier.

    This scenario also works if another race is the last one and we only fancy one or two in it.
    Also as well as the lay bet option the chances of Kingman not being placed is small and we would at least have a place dividend.

    Don't read the above saying he is being too cautious to win the scoop 6 is our aim in this club. Yes it is but this scenario gives us a better chance to get to the last race and hopefully WIN.

    Hi, cant afford to join in every week but with the pot so big at the moment it would seem rude not to give it at least one go with all you other degenerate gamblers! :)

    Put me down for one share and I'll await your pm with account details!

    Hi Vaigret your strategy of favourite backing in the last leg to open up possibilties on the exchanges seems a good one to me. I would have posted this idea myself but my tips and stuff have been going wrong lately.

    Everbody would need to open an account with betfair first though.
    (Try and get them to refer-a-friend you Vaigret, some recompense for your labours)

    Also, you didnt send me the account details. Thats why I've not paid.

    cheers,
    Dai.

    Agree its better to have one horse in the last race than any other race. For laying there is also laying possibilities on 2nd last race if still in and price dependant.
    Not sure if said in earlier posts yet but 1/2 the £2 stake per line is split between £1 place fund(placepot ) part and £1win (scoop 6 ) part.

    ps if horse bet I posted today comes in I will lump more into scoop bet

    I am happy for you to go with which ever perm you think is best - leaving kingsman as a solo selection seems sensible to me, giving us a better chance of getting there.

    The only issue i have with this is that i will be at work the whole of saturday so would not be able to get the lay bet on - is this something you could do on behalf of the whole syndicate?

    I am happy for any perms whatsoever that you good folk decide to put on.
    I would be interested to read any related Betfair/lay tips on Saturday after the Scoop bet has been placed.
