@Macac dont worry I do expect the unexpected, especially with 5 callers.

Takes some adjustment though from the usually pretty solid £3 tables I started out on. Team (loose) Aggro ruffled a few feathers there but team Ultra-Passive really has my head hurting. Bad enough in NL but with so many ways for them to hit a hand (they arent bothered about hitting 2) it can be tough.

I am making an adjustment for team UP or Uppers and I'll see how that goes.

Didnt start well in 1st 60p of the day when mega aggro post flop with top 2 pairs (top 3 actually) and a flush draw only to get river flushed with the wrong flush.

Case in point, little PLO8 tourney just played. It's not my imagination!

I played prime/well above average starting hands only...

Only played three hands the entire tourney (whilst it lasted!)

Hand 1, x2 on table limped, I pot raised, both called.
Hand 2, I button pot raise, x2 callers.
Hand 3, I pot raise, x2 callers. Out!

The £1 MTT? Still in that although nearly not - had some strong hands early doors and dropped down to c750 chips in similar fashion.

Back in the game now but with a chipped up AJ to my left.

    Yeah that's the one!
All you/we/anyone can do is continue to play good hands and eventually they do pay off, I just simply can't understand the calls for 20/25% of a stack with hands like 3789. That's the beauty of the game though!
    Good luck!

Sigh - bubbled it - nursed s/stack for most of tourney then when down to 7 with 6 paid and I'm shortie on 5.5BBs, open pot raise with AK48 and run into next shorty with AA46

That's not a sad story phantom
Here's a sad story. Second in chips
5 minutes later out in 8th

The shame of it, me the future plo8 champion
but I'm not sad, I didn't expect to cash I didn't expect to win
I wanted to cash I wanted to win, but my expectations weren't crushed
Onto to the next tourney(where I will crush and be victorious lol)

Regards Alan(The legend that is Team AJ )

I experienced the same problem in the Thursday night PLO8 league.  Any raised pot had at least 2 callers, if not more.  Obviously the league has some Novice players who were playing for maybe the 1st time. So Understandable that they wanted to see flops.  Obviously the more players to the flop, the more chances of being outdrawn.

I treated those tournies as a bit of fun, and hoped that the newbies enjoyed the game and will continue to play and progress.  So no complaints, but I may have to revise my strategy for this Thursday, to survive a little longer than I did last Thursday.

Having bust out the first £1 in 50th I stopped raising pre flop unless I had a nut drawing hand and even then I min raised, it meant playing the board rather than the oppo. folding on some very 'dry' boards, trying to see turn cards as cheaply as possible on others and generally expecting the unexpected. On the bright side when I did hit it was very likely I got a super payday.
It was interesting adjusting play for the different buy in levels, the £5 game playing far more like a standard DYM and being a little easier to read.

    DYM competition

    GELDY - retired hurt

I won't be playing enough to complete this so have given up. Would not have caught the leaders anyway. was trying to squeeze in games when i didn't have the time or concentration just to get the volume and that was spoiling both my results and my fun. hope to play a few games but will be strictly for fun. gl everyone still in it.

    It's incredible fun though!
Even when I wasn't in a hand, I was giggling away at some of the calls.
I won't change for next Thursday, I'd rather be knocked out early than knocked out after playing for 90 minutes!

    Check me out!
    Beating the rake by 0.7%!

Quite amazed that I'm not losing to be honest, at the moment I seem to be losing almost every flip when 4 handed.

I know what you mean lol
had 2 plo8 tables open last Thursday
It was like playing 12   holdem tables

I'll be doing the same this Thursday, I have no choice.
It part of my quest to become future  plo8 champion.

Regards Alan (The plo8 master in the making)
