Possibly not the most memorable, but definitely recent and fresh in my mind:
Scrolling through the new sky poker promotion "up your game" and saw the UKPC advertisement and decided to have a gander at how much it would cost to travel and stay there for the event, should i be lucky enough to qualify (never qualified for a live event online before).
After asking a question on the forums, replied to by Tikay himself, i decided to give it a pop at satelliting into the UKPC main event for pennies, and on my first go in a £5 direct to semi-final with one seat up for grabs, managed to bag it yesterday and then also won a seat to the final in that semi last night.
Now looking forward (and also bricking it) to sundays final which will be the largest buy-in tournament ive played in, which is also a satellite to an even bigger event, to date.
last year, the wsop gave back $9,000 of the $10,000 entry fee only to the women in the ladies event. maybe the french should have done the same in their seniors tournament.
ps i understand that all the women went and bought new shoes,
A couple of weeks ago Ross Jarvis pulled my name out of the hat for an £11 seat into the Tuesday main where I came 7th for £189. I immediately reinvested some of my winnings into that night's £55 bounty hunter and won it for around £700.
The longest shot I ever had come in on the horses was way back on the 1993 Derby, when Tikay was about 60. I had a fiver each way on a horse called Blues traveller and it came in 3rd at 200/1 after what seemed the longest stewards enquiry ever!
Not a personal long shot but Tikay will prob know the story of a guy who won enough cash on a verry lonng shot to buy a hotel near Skye. The horse was called Tingle Creek. The hotel is called the Tingle Creek Hotel!
The play isnt a terrible call - yes its unexpected, but it also means they have time for 3 plays.
If the go for the run only, then they would only have time for 2 plays unless they pass the 3rd down (in which case, its obvious the pass is coming, because they have to do it!)
A MESSAGE FROM SNUCKYLUMP. HES POSTED THIS ON TUESADYS THREAD.
Hi Richard and TK, Don't know why my tablet isn't showing tonights thread so probably talking to myself. ANYWAY, whilst I agree with the idiots joining tournaments for women and seniors, I'd be interested in TK's view of Anika Sorenstam playing in a PGA event against the men. Does he share VJ Singhs view? (i.e he withdrew).
(your the man shout) after 1st tee shot did amuse me.
My longshot arrived in a game of NLHE. Playing live in a casino, and i'd had a beer, so lets just my play was optimistic rather than optimal !
Pre flop 8 handed mid position with A9. UTG raised and i thought "he might have AK, ah well I'll call". Flop came A73. He bet, I thought "yea, I bet he's got AK, ah well I'll call". Turn came another A ! Board now A73A rainbow. He checked, I thought A-HA he hasn't got AK ! i bet. He min reraised. I get RED MIST! Entititlement Tilt Kicked in. He can't have it, I have Trip Aces! This pot is mine! I announce ALL-IN. My opponent looks puzzled. He goes into the tank. I have AK he announces. "Yeah right" I think, "of course you have, you'd have snapped right off if you had AK" I say I think this. I'd had a beer, i may have said all this! My opponent announces call, and immediately throws over AK. I say, "Why were you dwelling for so long, you're never folding there, all I have is Ace Nine' showing my hand. No sooner had the words left my lips when the dealer turned over the River. 9.!!! I nearly threw up for him. He looked ashen, stood up and wondered off mumbling nice hand good game.
Now whenever I get a bad beat, I remember that river 9, and how well my opponent took the beat as he saw a large cash pot wonder over to his out played opponent.
Regarding Long-Shot wins, in 1985 KitKat ran a golden ticket type of competition. The very first bar I purchased had a ticket and I won a years supply of KitKats, a TV, a VCR and a cassette Walkman.
No need to read this out Rich, but if the brontosaurus says I am in my 70s one more time, please pour his coffee over his head during the ad break. It was 500 Kitkats as it happens. Still not figured out why that's a years supply.
ps. please don't enter me in free tournament ticket competition thingy.

Not too bad at the moment. It's been dry and calm today, and no frost is forecast tonight. Almost T-shirt and shorts weather.
