    Hi Grintler,

I have been to Vegas 4 times now, twice on my own and twice with friends. Can definitely say I enjoyed it on my own more, can play to your own schedule and do what ever you want without worrying about others.

On your own its easier to get a seat at a bar or a restaurant and found I met more people on my own than when in a group. People are more inclined to talk to you when you are sitting at a bar/restaurant/gambling than interrupt a group of people talking. By people I mean HOT american chicks.

I was sceptical about going on my own at first but was a great decision in the end. If you get bored/lonely at anytime you can see a show/concert (will be easier to get a ticket for 1), wander the hotels & strip or do any number of things, you could easily fill your time.

Anyway I'm sure you can meet up with some of the other Sky regs.

PS you may also come back with a shiny new bracelet!!!

PPS the cash games are super soft so can pick up a bit of extra spending money.

Thanks citylawyer for the boost of confidence!

I decided to book my flights over the weekend, no going back now.

Did slightly change my plans though, decided to miss the COLOSSUS (don't fancy negotiating my way through 20,000 players) and am going to play the 'Lucky Sevens' - Event 66 of the WSOP. Couple of omens in that event number alone; Route 66 was my favourite ever holiday and obviously 1966 Bobby Moore and that. I'm clutching at straws...

Don't suppose anyone else is planning to play that? I'm only playing it as it's the only other WSOP tournament in my budget but I don't really understand the selling point behind it? To me it just seems another standard NLH tourney with a catchy name and a <$1000 buy-in to attract the masses.

We'll see, hopefully i'll return with a bracelet or at least some good memories.

I think that the Lucky Sevens tournie is around the time that Sky VLV package winners will be out there so you'll have no problem finding some people to meet up for a few drinks with!

    Hi Grintler.

Just be aware that the $777 Buy-In "Lucky 7's" is a Re-Entry Tournament.

It will have two starting flights, 10am & 6pm.

Levels are 40 minutes on Day One (that is VERY fast for a WSOP Event) & 1 hour from Day 2 onwards.

You get 5,000 starting chips, with levels beginning at 25-50.

    Hope you enjoy it.

    *Bump*

Just won a package thank you sky for the amazing opportunity, cannot wait and trying to book flights ASAP it seems that flying from machester is £500 return whereas from London its £750+ . Would appreciate any advice as im closer to London but maybe fly out from manchester and fly back into London would be optimal.

    Cheers JJ

Assumed it would be the package dates so had a mooch around, can't see anything that shouts out at me.

Its gonna come down to your personal preferences. A lot of people always say to fly direct regardless of cost, but if you can save a couple hundred and get a reasonable indirect flight its not the end of the world.

You can go direct from Manchester for £786 with Thomas Cook, or from London direct for £855 with BA but under the US Airways banner (it's BA planes!). So if London is much more convenient for you, then that latter fare is a no brainer over the Thomas Cook flight.

If you wanna get there as cheap as possible, the £500 flights from Manchester are actually a pretty good price considering we're well into May already. The one that jumps out at me is £511, and uses United Airlines going out, via NY, and Swiss Air coming back via Zurich. Whilst indirect isn't ideal, it does mean you'll land at Vegas as a domestic passenger and avoid all the immigration lines there.

No idea if you drive, but airport parking can be pretty cheap at Manchester. I might have a discount code as well if you want me to dig it out. Advance train ticket also another option if you live on a decent rail route. But the flight does leave at 09.30, so you might wanna factor getting in the day before and staying in a hotel in Manchester.

Sorry I'm not much help and I'm kinda sitting on the fence! If you wanna get there as cheaply as possible then plump for the Manchester flight. If you think, meh I'm only there for a week and wanna make the most of that time with minimum hassle, then go for that direct London flight.

Ps, I did look at flying out from Manc and back to London but again nothing of much note was available.

Edit....the best I could see is out from Manchester with US Airways via Chicago and back to London direct on BA for £767.

Thanks so much, that £511 deal does look good, is this on united airlines website? Think avoiding immigration queues are a bonus of indirect so will definitely factor that into the equation

Yeah, another good aspect of that flight is that it doesn't leave Vegas on the 5th until 19.45, so you have bags of time on the last day to play a bit of cash or do your bo1l1ocks on the slots.

A lot of indirect flights back to Manchester leave early, around 9am or even earlier, which just wouldn't be a fun way to end your holiday. I think you get a 4th July party as part of the package, so imagine filling your boots at that then having to get up at 5am for a flight home, gross!

The wait at NY is 4 hours, so you could feasibly be waiting in immigration for half of that, but this is then offset by the fact when you land at Vegas at 19.00 you roll off the plane and straight into a cab with no messing about.

Website is Tripsta.co.uk. Put in the dates and then on the results page, scroll down to the 8th result which is £511.37. There are flights that are literally a couple of quid cheaper, but as above they leave Vegas at 9am, which for me is a big no no!

Me and Curt360x27 won a Priority Freeroll on thursday top 2 got a package, players needed to hit a points target. Only had 22 runners so was great value! essentially a £350 tournement but the field was super tough.

JJJohnson, just a heads up that I have a 15% off code for parking at Manchester Airport, if you plump for that flight and will be driving there. Give me a yell if you want it :)

Thanks, I tried to find train times up to manchester as I don't drive but nothing worked, then Irishrose pointed me towards a virgin airmiles deal which made london direct flights £750 instead of £1k+. Thanks so much for your efforts the sky community is the best! Looking forward to it

Nice one, that's a solid price for those flights. VA are very good IMO as well, prefer them over BA for the Vegas directs.

A few hours now to the start of the 2015 WSOP with the $565 Casino Employee's event, as usual, being Event Number 1. Updates from the WSOP will be awaited but as I don't expect to recognise many names in this field I don't think there will be too much interest in it!

The WSOP have taken the updates in-house this year after PokerNews doing them for a number of years, so we'll see if this is an improvement or a backward step!

Looking forward to all the updates FCHD - I might not post much on the thread, but like countless others I will be reading every day with interest. :)
