In Response to Re: Sky Poker Qualifiers Main Event thread : Really? Its just their sky poker alias, if i really wanted to find out i could sharkscope the tournament and find out, it;s out in the open. Nothing really that sacred... Posted by alex1229
Those are the rules Alex, & we don't make the rules.
If they want to make their Sky Poker alias known, then that's cool, but unless they do, we can't reveal it.
A little detective work along the lines you suggested is fine, but can I ask you not to do the reveal please?
I was wandering around the Tan section of the Amazon room checking on the progress of Mr Spittles when an elderly gentleman stood from his seat of table 358 and asked me if the guy next to him was famous. I looked down and nodded. Yes sir that's Phil Ivey. Posted by Sky_SamT
Sam that would be me.............only know a few of them now. In a way that's good, as he's got no preconcieved ideas of who he's playing so shouldn't be scared. Good luck guys over there. Routing for you to bring home the bracelets and some nice cashes.
We filmed the WSOP Daily Update - it was a NIGHTMARE, we filmed in 4 different areas & had to do the whole thing with an escort, who was timing us on a stop watch. We are allowed 5 minutes filming, & not a second more. Not easy once Mr Ambo starts waffling.
We filmed in Brasilia, Amazon, Pavilion & The Kitchen. Yup, the kitchen. And we did the lot inside 5 minutes. Incred scenes.
Then Neil filmed his Daily Diary (the Daily Moan won't be filmed today) & now I've been despatched to get some interviews lined up for the breaks - Danny Negreanu & Sam Trickett. I can lay good money Sam will turn up late, then I just have to find him amongst 4,000 players in five different areas. Easy game.
Then I just need to find our players & see how they are doing.
In Response to Re: Sky Poker Qualifiers Main Event thread : Good luck all out there living the dream.(Tommy where is the last picture from/of? looks familiar but don't watch any soaps! is he from soaps or an actor? that i may have seen on tv somewhere?) Matt Bates looks bigger in the photo than expected from all the rumours on here!;} or has he got a cushion? Posted by Any2Suited
The last picture is of course the icon of my youth, Geoff from Byker Grove, the old CBBC show in the 80s/90s where Ant first laid eyes on Dec.
Brett Gritton made an under the gun min raise to 200 and found 3 customers.
The flop came J 10 4 and Brett continued to the tune of 500. 2 came along and we went to the turn which was a K. No flush draws out and Brett fires once more (1000). One call and a Q hits the river.
Brett tanks and checks before the villian fires out 2500. After a couple of minutes Brett makes it 6000 and the villian lets it go.

Gonna make a blind guess that he turned 88 into a bluff to get stuff like KQ to fold. If he actually has Ax well done for totally meta-er-ing me with the post.
Matt Bates has taken another hit to his stack. Unfortunately for him he keeps running top pair top kicker into flopped sets. Inicidentally he is sat at the same table as Neil Channing was at yesterday. Perhaps we should hope it rains in Brasilia again.

Nico has around 25k and Martin 40k at the first break. Ryan has had in his own words a very boring start and has 29k.
It is hard to put into words how busy the Rio is today, they are playing on every table in sight and even playing in the kitchen!!! I haven't been able to get my lunch yet.
No word on final numbers yet but we should have that at around 9pm tonight.
Good luck Mr Bates. All the best. Rainman397. P.S If you cash Mr Bates i would cnsider it an immense honour if you could find the time to participate in the £2.20 @2.20 deepstack. Posted by rainman397
Yes and if you don't cash please never darken our doorstep again.

Good luck all. Think I only know Matt Bates and Ryan Spittles. Seen MB had a bad start, but still plenty of time to recover. GL mate! How's Ryan getting on? COME ON THE SKY BOYS! GL GL, Graham Posted by StayOrGo
Ryan is doing OK, got a tough table, & dribbled a few chips, but he's fine, got about 29,000.
Probably around 3500 today to make the total field a smidgin either side of the 6000 mark, which would be down about 10% on last year. Posted by FCHD
Think you are right, Barny, my gut feel is around 6,000, maybe a few less.
If so, it won't be a big deal. The introduction of "budget" events such as Colossus & Lucky Sevens, especially the former, with north of 20,000 runners, is far more important to poker generally, imo.
I think the WSOP have done a fine job again this year, they tweaked, fettled fiffed & faffed & the overall product is better. WP them.

WAYAY MAN!
BOOM.
The Danny Negreanu interview is booked for the second break.
Now for the difficult part - finding Tricky Sam.
Can't wait to watch the video to see how much you are staring at 'his' hair.
