Quiz: Anyone want to guess how many UKPC seats Sky Poker have awarded to EXISTING players in Freerolls & Promos? Posted by Tikay10
In!
299007
However, if the prize is a seat at the UKPC, then please withdraw my submission.
Unless, if SKY arranged for me to be carried there piggybag by your goodself, whilst stopping every mile to feed me peeled grapes, whilst I charm you with some interesting facts.
ps.Interesting fact #23,119
An average Ostrich egg contains more calories than the average family sized Christmas Turkey.

That is almost certainly wrong if we are talking about the arithmetic mean.
I have no idea what the correct answer is though.
Is it possible to have double yolks? In which case it could be 1.001
As Ostrich eggs are farmed then I also assume you can get unfertilised eggs so the answer could be 0.1, 0.998 but it won't be 1

In Response to Re: Is this a joke?? Or just a slap in the face?? : A lot of gaming sites now require ID before customers can make a withdrawal (Passport, driving license and proof of address). I know everyone doesn,t have all these but couldn,t the SB+G team request at least 1 of these for all new customers? It wouldn,t could it out altogethor but would certainly reduce multi-accounting P Posted by MP33
Hi,
That's such an interesting question, & I'll try & address some of it.
Firstly, multi-accounting, which is peculiar, but in different ways, to both Sky Bet & Sky Poker, is less prevalent than you might think. In poker, it's a very emotive topic, & people get very uppity when they smell a rat, but the incidence of MA is really very small indeed. It does happen, yes, but it's rare, the vast majority of poker players are honest. An odd aside is that often it comes from players who have taken the hump with the site, said "I'm leaving", & then create a new account to return, as they realised they were wrong but don't want to lose face.
Registration procedures, because of the sheer size of SB&G, & the need to streamline systems & be efficient, are identical for all SB&G sites. One size does not always fit all, fair to say, but on balance it needs to be like that.
Now to the heart of your question. The Business can measure the success or failure of "Registration journeys". In case you were not aware, all Gaming Sites suffer a % of would be Clients who start the Registration process, but don't complete it. Even if this number were only 10%, that's a lot of potential lost business.
So the Registration process has to strike a balance between 2 things.
1) Quick & easy, to lessen the failed Registration Journeys.
2) Sufficiently robust to ensure compliance, & no hanky-panky.
It's quite a balancing act to get those 2 in sync.
In reality, MA in poker is less prevalent than most think, though yes, it happens.
As to the comments in this thread, suggesting MA-ers will somehow wangle themselves a free UKPC seat, well I'd say that's going to be extremely difficult for them to achieve, though I'm not going to explain why, obviously.

Agree with irish rose ,think it is a joke. Whoever's idea it is in sky to give 50 new players a £8600 freeroll is so wrong, if i was their boss, i would go right through them.It just makes no sense and definitely does not seem right, maybe the person in charge should check the 50 players in a few month time to see how many are still playing, then they may realise how many thousands they have thrown away. (if it was maybe 500 players in the freeroll i could understand)
I think it's a good idea, I would imagine the folk that win will tell others and when the word spreads that they won a seat to this prestigious tournament for free it would encourage them to sign up.
The regs here have had countless free rolls and other chances to win a seat so there is no harm in trying something to get new players signed up.

If thats the final number then someones got it horribly wrong and probably looking for a new job.
You seem to think £8600 is a lot of money, I wonder how much rake would be paid if just 1 player stayed and earned 10,000 points a month over 10 years, anybody want to guess or work it out.

3 years wages in Yorkshire.
Good luck to them, got to try and entice new players and signups, this is a delicious cherry for them to take a bite of.

it was humour
ps, whether you take average to be the mean, median or mode, there are fewer farmed ostrich eggs
an average ostrich egg will contain exactly one ostrich, whereas an ostrich egg contans on average less than one ostrich
