Who burnt the Sunday dinner and the puddings? Can't blame rose as she's at home. All joking aside though I hope it's nothing to worry about and everyone is ok.
what happens to the hands that were being played at thetime of the fire alarm? Posted by ShaunyT
As far as I am aware - we are all ushered out quickly - the Tournament was suspended "with immediate effect", so hands in mid-play would have been suspended at that exact moment.
Those hands cannot really be continued with, I suspect, as it is possible the deck or hole cards could have been seen, or interfered with whilst most people were out of the building.
Good question Shauny, & with poker players being particularly argumentative by nature, or so it seems to me, it could get interesting.

My thoughts exactly! i guess in an ideal world the dealer would remember the action and it would be in effect "paused", However i imagine this would be extremely difficult to execute, and as you say the potential for interference is there.
Would be a sickener if you had a good hand and it was mucked!

Yes, the likelihood of BOTH players saying "I would have won that" is enormous.
It is similar to the situation when an Online hand, SNG or MTT is suspended due to site issues. Every single player still in says "I would have won it, pay me more"......
Anyway, I'll go see what's happening in a mo.
Staff ONLY (plus a favoured few....) were allowed to re-enter the building, but not customers or players, so as of yet, we don't have any players.
Meanwhile, as I near froze to death outside, I'm sitting in a donkey jacket, gloves & beanie hat.
It is suspected that the Fire Alarm was activated by an over zealous "vape" smoker, an over sensitive smoke detector in the ceiling, or a combo of both.
"Vaping" (?) has now been banned in the Club until further notice.

trouble ahead... this is the live version of playing "away" players.
Good luck with getting someone to leave aces just because they're burning to death.
We have now been re-admitted to the building.
The Tournament was originally suspended until 6.40pm, but I fancy it may be a while longer before it re-starts.
Hundreds of people decamped to Nandos, & others drove elsewhere, as it was so cold standing in the Car Park.
Tournament now expected to resume "around 7pm".
Some interesting potential "Ask the TD" situations here.
Presumably, the Tournament cannot re-start until every player returns to the building.
But how long should they wait if 1 or 2 players do not return?
(Question is hypothetical)

Players are now being re-admitted to the premises.
A Ruling has been announced.
The clock was stopped & Tournament deemed to be suspended at the VERY MOMENT the Fire Alarm went off.
Hands suspended "mid hand" will be resumed mid-hand.
Fire Alarm Bad Beat Alert
John Gale just came to see me.
He had raised with an iffy hand, & then, just a nana-second before the Fire Alarm went off, a player shoved all-in over the top of John.
John has had an hour to decide whether to call or not, & has still not decided.
That's some tanking, call the clock.
They have announced that play should re-commence in 8 minutes.

All players, dealers & staff (& updaters, we hope) are bring given free drinks & snacks for the rest of the evening.
