Yes as it played out it is impossible for you to know whether early removers have been back and taken a look with any later additions.
I sincerely doubt that Horse play, Top Beak or most importantly today Not so Sleepy would have been on many people's retained list. When the syndicate loses it will always be where a lively outsider takes it, or the perms just fall the wrong way.
For every loss there has been one that got away and for every win there has been a key decision that went right and that is to be expected.
In an ideal world your timing restrictions would work, however it may be that not everyone will be able to look at the card properly on the night before, and some will only be able to look at it the night before and not make changes afterwards.
What is more important more people having an input, or those that do input having a consistent decision to make so that you can be sure you have the right consensus?

Would it be better to do additions anytime before 10am on the day of the race. This would mean that you couldn't start looking at removers until 10AM on the day of the race. Who would this impact? Is 10am - 1pm enough of a window? G Posted by StayOrGo
I would say this would impact quite a few due to work commitments, I would prefer any inclusions to be put in the night before so those that have removed the previous night ( if due to work ) would only have to reconsider the inclusions the next day which isn't as time consuming to make amendments to their removals, rather than start from scratch at 10am. Hope that makes sense!

OK, we will stick with plan A then, try and get the spreadsheet out for 9pm, additions process between 9pm and 11pm.

Hi G
very tricky today, but I suppose that's the idea as far as the JACKPOT is concerned. 10am - 1pm was enough time for me today, but I'd started with an initial look last night. I think the only people it would impact are the ones who are working mornings. I think it's a fairly fluid process anyway because there will be gambles and drifters too. I don't think additions should be set in stone until the day of the race though, but obviously I am more of an observer and wouldn't want to influence your decision

Cheers Misty, we do have a "DARK BLUE" that is used for very late additions (due to market moves). The dark blue tells me that it wasn't in the removers list and I have to make a decision myself on it.
If anyone is doing their removals late, to be fair to all, they are not allowed to select the DARK BLUE ones.
Usually when I add a DARK BLUE, I will ask for peoples opinions if time.
So we will still do that. We are just trying to find a process whereby MOST additions can be scrutinised by the removals team rather than me being the sole decision maker as to whether it goes in or not and in how many perms etc.
I am going to have to find a way to get peoples inclusions in BEFORE people start to do their removers. The problem was that a lot of people had already done their removers before Phantom's and Wynne requested their additions. It's just hard to find the time, but going forward we will TRY to do the following. 1) Release the spreadsheet by 9PM 2) People look at ADDITIONS only and post NO LATER than 11PM 3) No-one STARTS to do their REMOVERS until AFTER 11PM when the full list of removers will be available. If we take today as an example. That would have allowed people to assess if they wanted, HORSEPLAY, NOT SO SLEEPY and TOP BEAK removed or not. Unfortunately these three were not really available to remove when the early birds did their selections, leaving me clueless as to how many people would have removed them. It may have made a difference. Although, I expect, we will get near misses quite often, and there will always be something like this to ponder. Cheers, G Posted by StayOrGo
Hi Graham
Unfortunate today.
As far as putting a time scale on the process, always going to be difficult as we all have different commitments and time constraints ( family - work etc ) add in we may not know the next days Jackpot meeting by 9pm, as well as having Evening Jackpot meetings.
If they were consistant in the way they released the following days Jackpot info would help.
Not sure it's possible to cover every scenario, i think you're doing a sterling job on behalf of the syndicate, maybe there will always be hiccups.
I think we have proved the system will work, if there are tweeks fine but i think we are close to a big result.

Thanks for your feedback and support Roger.
Yes, you are right, we can't put an exact time on it.
I suppose what I am saying, is that we TRY and create an opportunity for additions to be scrutinised by the remover's team, and maybe that's the best we can do.
I know you always work diligently to get the spreadsheet to me ASAP, and I couldn't ask any more of you in that regard.
It also means people who want to contribute to "additions" need to be available in a small window (if their additions are to be scrutinised by removers)
Going forward on GO-LIVE days, I am wondering if someone could consolidate all the removers.
Ideally just listing each removed horse once followed by the number of people who removed it.
I found it quite hard combining all the NAP's and manually going through all the removers, so a consolidated list, just listing each removed horse once, would really help and allow me to spend more time on perm strategy.

Will do.
But will probably have to be over 2 consecutive posts due to post size restrictions on my tablet.

Removals process starts at 11pm night before.

Please can you all score your cards and check one other person score.

G
