    Good evening Steve
Really pleased to see you posting again, not only that but the news the book is available to all 😊

Following the trend of good news/ bad news/ maybe good news/ splendid news

Good news -I would love to purchase a copy of this ‘Best Seller’
Bad news - I’m not a member of the world of e-books
Maybe good news- My good lady is a member of the world of e-books
Splendid news - Having read the reviews of ‘The no.1 Best Seller, my good lady is post haste purchasing a copy for me to read ( on her kindle) before stocks run out ( Can they run out of stock online 😉)

I hear on the grapevine that authors are ( pardon the language) beating the ladies off with a sh...tty stick.
Enjoy the new found adulation, and remember those of us who said hi here whilst you’re cruising Blackpool seafront on your new roller skates.

£1.99?? Had thought in the back of my mind I'd shell out a tenner for it when it came out!

For technophobes such as myself, does one require a Kindle in order to read it or can I just get it to my computer/ipad as a pdf or something?

Pricing was an odd one - I was torn between going free, comically high (you can charge £150 for an ebook) somewhere in between (a tenner) or low end. Thought £1.99 seemed a reasonable price for a poker book especially as I'm more into the idea of lots of people reading it than making money.

I'm a bit of a tech-fish too, but a google search suggests that if you download the app you can read it on "iPhone, iPod, iPad, Android Tablet, Blackberry..." etc. Good luck dude, thanks for your interest.

How much do you have to pay to publish your book on there? Do you get a % of the 1.99?

Publishing is totally free. The official percentage is 70% (proper high for for the author) but I think some is lopped off for VAT and so it works out at just over £1 per copy sold, I think.

Good evening Mr Goodun - that all sounds outstanding, especially my future consisting of careering around Blackpool on roller skates. Would be very interested to hear your thoughts on Notes from the Poker Trenches at some point.

Wonderful to have you here, as ever, hope all's cool with you.

    You mean £1.99 isn't comically high? ;)

I'm sure its a fun and interesting read, I'm old school so get it into a physical format and wing me a copy up to York.

Assuming Notes from the Poker Trenches remains a NUMBER ONE BESTSELLER for a while, then Further Notes from the Poker Trenches (inspired, right?) will be released as a physical, actual, proper book - possibly as early as the dog-end of this year. I'll shoot one of those up there.

    Good Afternoon Steve
Currently finding Notes from the poker trenches a very good read., the looking back at how you viewed and wrote about poker back when you were a relative novice is clever stuff, although am surprised you didn’t pick up on a pair of pocket jacks description 😉 although I do think that was a necessary gaffe to highlight a certain reader friendly scene. Everyone’s a critic huh 😊

It’s a great space to be in how we can look back at how we were and modify our behaviour/ play, although some still stick to the “ If I don’t like it/ him I’ll fight it/ them type of Neanderthal mindset, it’s resfreshing to view a critical eye of our own failings ( deep ey)

Looking forward to how the best selling book develops from the first forays in to the shark infested waters of online and live poker.

Hope you’re having a great weekend
    Your best selling book fan
    Thomas

I had an outstanding weekend, thanks, hope you did too.

Reading that marvellous comment above (twice) rounded off my weekend nicely - thanks very much indeed Thomas.

I too had a pretty outstanding weekend thanks, things in the goodun household have pretty much mirrored the weather lately., holiday booked, good lady happy...neh delighted with mine and awesome grandsons skill set in reducing a garden table in length ( planned, not accidental)
Dear daughter in a good space, taking gorgeous grandson out to family fun days at the park.

I’m currently on Note 57, and really really rooting for the hero, if this book had come out before the SPT you entered I would have been even more delighted ( spoiler alert) at you making the FT.

    Cap is doffed.
Good luck on the felt my good man.

Hi Steve, just going to leave this here ;)

  • SR23SR23 Member Posts: 1,228
Thanks James, more of this kind of thing please.

On a slightly different note - and excuse/don't excuse the pun - things are looking up. Since the heady days of last Friday, when I was an Amazon best-selling author, I've been flooded with work. Four articles written yesterday, three more today, three more to write tomorrow. Plus there's more work in the pipeline.

    Good old work.

Exchanging words for money has meant that I haven't been on the tables much over the last week or so. Really looking forward to playing again, though. And then writing about it. And then exchanging those words for money.

It's not all good news, though, it never is. It turns out that I've quit quitting smoking. Booze has crept back in, too, albeit to a non-alarming degree.

    Good old vices.

    Peace out.

Played live for the first time in months last night.

Drank a bit, but managed to spin up £140 to roughly £900. Then managed to spin that £900 down to £0. Bought back in for £300. Doubled up through this dude who was opening for £200 (this is at £1/1) when I got it all in versus him pre w/JJ. Think he had rags. Lost a £1450 pot versus the same dude when I couldn't get away from QQ on a 25T83-type run out. Felt I was behind on the flop, turn and river. He had AA. Walked home in the rain at 7am, chainsmoking.

Drank red wine and watched tennis training videos when I got home. Felt marginally better. Feel marginally better writing this - only marginally better, though. If any benevolent millionaires are reading this and want to buy 1,000 copies of my book to make me feel significantly better - rather than just marginally better - then be my guest.

Otherwise, enjoy the rest of your Sunday, readers.

    Marginally good post.

Sounds like when you play live cash, your chips don't get much chance to gather dust.

Get yourself to Brighton next week

Only marginally, though. Still, quite thrilling. Would love to come to Brighton and defend my eighth place finish but have birthday stuff going on. Hope you have a ball there.

Was good to see you on Saturday night Steve, I feel so bad that you didn't pick up that massive pot with that unicorn, I would have called him down with an overpair too. For me this is what I wait for, grinding out all the average games in wait for this one guy to show up every few months or so, and then it's up to the poker gods to get you in a good spot vs him.

    Hi Steve, @SR23

You are very quiet these days, hope all is OK, or as OK as it gets in the poker trenches.
  • SR23SR23 Member Posts: 1,228
    Hey @Tikay10

All is okay as it gets, thanks, haven't been on here posting much because (a) not much to report (b) this challenge has pretty much fallen apart and (c) other stuff.

Thanks for checking in though Teacakes, hope all's good with you.

Well as long as you are - relatively - OK, that's cool mate.

I have no idea why, but when some of our forum regulars go missing, especiallty those I am acquainted with I always worry a little, so I tend to bump their diaries & see what happens. (See @SR23 @DOHHHHHHH @tomgoodun etc).

"other stuff" intrigues muchly, by the way. The mind boggles.

Take care mate, look after yourself.
