As is becoming the standard, the last few days have mostly been spent on the cash tables. Again things haven't been overly swingy but I am currently sitting on a small loss. I'd actually be showing a bit of profit if I hadn't bothered with any 10nl games and may have to consider self-excluding myself from this stake. This is principally because I just don't play as well when the money in play feels relatively insignificant and I can get prone to some ill-advised punts as a result. 10nl regs also seem to be a fair bit nittier overall compared to the 20nl-50nl pool which makes for some pretty dull games and the rake is 50% larger too just to add to the fun! Overall cash loses came in at -£39.67.
As you may have seen, after a few more attempts I have finally completed my mission to take down a £2.20 deepstack! With that itch well and truly scratched I now have a new mission - win a mini. I'm currently leading the pack in the race to the main competition and with just the mini to go (I know this is a much bigger ask btw!) these will become my primary focus for a bit of fun on the side tourney action. I'll still be jumping into the other odd one here and there too but, for now, the mini is my new £2.20 deepy. Total tourney profits came in at +£45.53.
Finally, it's rakeback day. My volume is creeping ever slowly upwards which is pleasing to see (hopefully the diary is doing its job here!) and my points total for the week came to 1,570. This works out as £23.55 in rewards payments and the pentagon promo added another £15 on top. If I can have a good start to February I might try and get back into the priority club, but I'll take more of a view on that in a couple of weeks time.
Oh, I'd previously said I was going to treat myself to something special once mission £2.20 deepstack was completed and these were promptly delivered today:
Homeys slippers are not the cheapest around but my god are they worth it. The only negative was my other half telling me I looked like I'd escaped from some sort of institution when she saw me in them.
I've been running like pants. I've most likely been playing a bit pants too but lady variance has certainly been reminding me what a cruel mistress she can be. Lots of horrible instances of getting all the money in well ahead and still losing has felt like the theme of the last few days at the cash tables. I always try to pat myself on the back for correctly made decisions when these things happen, but the results are still what ultimately matter - otherwise I wouldn't have a profit section at the bottom of these updates but rather a percentage of correct decisions tally, and that really doesn't sound quite so sexy does it? Actual results aren't terrible but it would be nice to get some positive momentum going from cash. Total losses -£48.60.
Tournaments have seen very little action with just a few mini's played plus the Triple Takedown series. I'm not running too hot in these either - Monday's exit from the mini was particularly 'fun' as I got it all in pre with AQo vs AQo and still managed to lose. I have at least managed a couple of min cashes and picked up a few bounties along the way though, which puts me just about in the green for tourney's. Total profits came in at +£9.83.
As today is the start of a new month I guess it would be sensible to put some goals in place for February. As things stand, I don't feel hugely confident about any of the following but, in order of the likelihood in which I think these will be achieved, February's goals are as follows:
1) Make £1k in total profits. 2) Have a top 10 finish in the Triple Takedown monthly league (I came 12th in January). 3) Win a Mini. 4) Make Priority (very unlikely given recent volume levels). 5) Eat more fresh vegetables (I like them but I'm a lazy cook).
That's really solid Dues, profit across the board.
OK, you ran a bit bad in January, but its inevitable, everyone goes through those periods. Best thing about a bit of run-bad is coming out the other side. And you will.
Think we were playing cash earlier on a few tables? If that was you, you played very well. Good luck with the challenge!
I'd love to take the credit as the guy who played very well but, sadly, I don't think we played each other last night, so it probably wasn't me. We have met on the cash tables a few times in the past but I can understand if you needed to block that from your memory given my frighteningly dazzling skills .
Thanks for the good wishes and best of luck yourself.
Thanks @Tikay10 and @JJBinks - you're fast becoming my official motivation team.
I loved the video Binks. Since watching it this morning I've already won my frist boxing title, cured cancer and brought peace to the Middle East. Can't wait to see what tomorrow brings .

Yay.
Bet that felt good?
As @GELDY might say......
