What happened yesterday? Day 2 of UKOPS.

Tikay10Tikay10 Member, Administrator, Moderator Posts: 168,887

Afternoon all, a little late today, but hey, it's Sunday.

Well the clocks went back, so I guess winter has arrived & it certainly feels that way this morning. When the clocks go back or forward, it's commonly called "daylight saving time", but that's just tosh, surely? It does not save daylight, it moves it.

Still, that means Christmas is just around the corner, & with it, all that lovely Christmas music. Oh joy of joys.

I'm going to start today with a really cracking photograph I spotted which was taken yesterday. And in case you were not aware, that's HMS Queen Elizabeth, our new Aircraft Carrier, & Queen Mary 2, flying the flag in New York.

You my ask what that has to do with UKOPS of course. A very fair question, and if I can think of a reasonable answer, I'll let you know.

Great photo though, right?

    UKOPS 07, £22 Rebuy, £4,000 Rebuy

Unusually, the UKOPS Day 2 began with a nice little Rebuy, for which there were 129 uniques, 93 rebuys & 52 add-ons, giving a £5,480 prize pool.

Long-term Sky Poker regular @TheDart scored a maximum, which was great to see. And despite my appalling pun there, he does not take his alias from the game of Darts, but from the Dublin Area Rapid Transport system, aka Dart. Don't you just love that?

    image

4th place went to UKOPS specialist @Sharki0 who rarely has a bad UKOPS, with @Arrogant - same applies - in 5th and @MattBates in 6th.

In 9th was @scotty77 who is -so far - having a "close but no cigar" UKOPS, with @Morris707 in 16th, & the hapless hopeless and helpless @HAYSIE a spot behind.

@rspca12 and @FeelGroggy are having a UKOPS challenge & prop bet, so it was rather neat that they cashed for identical amounts in 11th & 12th respectively.

How did the Day 2 Guarantees work out?

Pretty good actually, with all 6 events covering.

    UKOPS 07, G'tee £4,000, made £5,480

    UKOPS 08, G'tee £15,000, made £19,700

    UKOPS 09, G'tee £5,000, made £8,200

    UKOPS 10, G'tee £4,000, made £4,320

    UKOPS 11, G'tee £4,000, made £4,250

    UKOPS 12, G'tee £2,000, made £2,240

    So, 6 out of 6.

Guarantees are a strange thing though. Beat them all & the first thought is "were they too low?", miss them & it's all "they were too high".

Lower or higher? Hard to say. If your neck was on the block in setting these though, and you were held responsible for any losses, I fancy I know which way you'd choose.

    UKOPS 08, £110 entry, £15,000 BH

This was the Day 2 Main, & despite worries about the price tag, it covered nicely.

What a winner, too, in @PBKR who has been knocking on the door way too long.

Runner-up, & edging ever closer to another UKOPS win was @Sharki0 , making it successive final tables, as he ran 4th in the opener.

@MrTucker was 3rd, another fine effort. I was trying to find a witty rhyming comment to make about his alias, but it was not easy. Anyone want to come up with something that rhymes nicely with Tucker?

There was a deep run (10th) by @StayOrGo , desperately trying to overtake son George (@Limp2Lose) in their private UKOPS battle. I'm a big fan of Graham @StayOrGo but I'm sorry, he's a little too old to be winning a UKOPS any time soon, just mark my words.

In fact, @Limp2Lose cashed in 32nd place, the backmarker in a fourball which included @MAXALLY @LARSON7 and @MattBates.

@NChanning, after his remarkable 3rd place in the Main on Day 1, was not far away either, eventually coming home 38th.

Finally, @TheDart, who splendidly triumphed in tonight's opener finished 167th of 169 in this one.

I must say, the quality of insults on here & Social-Media is definitely improving.

Last night, @NChanning got into a bit of a set-to on Twitter with a chap who was dissing Sky Poker, so our man was doing his bit.

It all ended in a bit of an anti-climax eventually, but not before Neil had been described as an armpit.

Pretty good that, I thought, though I've no idea what it means or alludes to.

In the battle of insults, I reckon I might have just shaded it yesterday, when here on the Sky Poker Forum, one chap informed me that....

"lol what a crock of shite your talking, u need to give your head a wobble"

Has to be 9/10 on the memorable dissing scale, right?

    Give your head a wobble

I'd never heard that one before, but I must have led a sheltered life as a quick spot of googling tells us it's a regular jibe. I do need to get out more.

UKOPS 09, £11 entry £5,000 Mini Rebuy BH

Ahh, the ever popular Mini, and it got cracking numbers, 413 uniques, 237 rebuys and 170 add-ons.

Last man - or woman - standing was @jd44 and the only other finalist I recognized was good old @NIHIGHGUN (6th).

An up and down night continued for @TheDart - first, nearly last, & now 9th in this, with @MAXALLY close up yet again in 11th and our friend @Sharki0 cashing yet again.

@68Trebor was 15th with hotpot @jordz16 matching his alias in 16th.

    Yesterday, @tomgoodun wrote.....

I’m hoping to play this evening, it would be great to see my name here ( Bringing up the rear, in horse racing terms is odds on fav.)

Well the odds-on jolly, as so often happens, got turned over, as Tom finished 17th. That'll be a nice pressie for Dearest Daughter no doubt.

I hope you realize how painful it is for me to post this congratulatory photo, heck, I can't bear to look at it, but Tom deserves it, so just this once.

Poker players do the oddest things sometimes.

I was watching the "Millions" on TV last night, & they showed this chap - Christoph Vogelsang - wearing a sort of zip up snood. When it was his turn to act, he pulled it up over his face & tied it closed with a little drawstring, just leaving his eyes exposed.

    image

I sat there smiling to myself - what DID he look like? Pretty stupid, if you ask me.

Then the ad break came on - & the ads on that show are dire - so, with a minute or two to spare, I googled his results. He's won over $3,000,000 in 2018 alone, & $19 million in total. How much?

Two results hit me right between the eyes, both in the Super High Roller Bowl in Las Vegas, where he was 5th this year for $1.2 milly & won it last year for $6 milly. (Entry fee each year was a mind-blowing $300,000).

He might look stupid, but if it helps win that sort of dosh, good luck to him. I think I'll abandon my plan to turn up at SPT Manchester wearing my bandana & show up with a tie-up snood instead.

I guess if you are good enough, you can get away with wearing anything. Anyone remember this chap, now sadly no longer with us?

    image

I mean, you really can't wear that sort of gear if there's any chance of a shank off the first tee, is there?

    UKOPS 10, £22 entry £4,000 BH

216 hopefuls for this, with the win going to @Herbz_11, very nice too.

But wait, who was that in 2nd place?

    Sigh, here we go again.

    image

Great stuff @tomgoodun , you proper moaned those 2 results in.

@TommyD and @Limp2Lose crossed the line neck & neck in 13th & 14th, so @StayOrGo looks like he has no chance now in that father & son challenge.

Great effort by @ctbn to finish 207th of 216, easily his best result since he luckboxed SPT Cardiff in 2012.

    image

Quite a final that was, in Cardiff, with the old hippo beating Jen Mason (2nd) & Greg Hogg (3rd). 1st & 2nd was real Beauty & the Beast stuff.

Yesterday's sport was totally overshadowed by the news that Glenn Hoddle had been taken seriously ill, & a thoroughly dreadful helicopter crash after the Leicester City game.

Thoughts are with all concerned, especially the families.

    UKOPS 11, £55 entry £4,000 Turbo BH

Great winner in this, @Froozle , who is inching his way towards 6 figure winnings on Sky Poker.

In fact, he pulled off a remarkable double, as there was another Bounty Hunter which also started at 10pm & he won that too. What price winning two MTT's on the same site starting at identical times? RequestABet on Sky Bet would have offered long odds on that.

2nd went to the player you either love or hate, @Marmite11 with @Lightwood 5th.

Another cash (15th) for @Limp2Lose who was a pip behind @MAXALLY who is having a frustrating UKOPS so far. Dump the sunnies Alan & try a tie-up snood, makes all the difference apparently.

Today's sport looks mildly interesting, with the Arsenal attempting an oh-so-rare 12 wins on the bounce if my maths have not failed me. Their opponents? Palace. Sky Bet go 4/5 Arsenal, which looks a fraction generous to me.

They also go 11/10 Aubameyang as Anytime scorer. He's the real-deal, but that price looks way too short to me.

    image

Elsewhere, it's the Mexico F1 GP, and for once, Hamilton will have his work cut out to win, as high-altitude messes with engine poker & negates the advantage Mercedes have everywhere else.

The worst thing about the Mexican GP is the media insulting our intelligence with all those oh-so-corny photos of drivers wearing silly hats, ostensibly as a nod to the locals but actually pretty patronising imo.

    UKOPS 12, £22 entry, £2,000 Hyper BH

    oioi, guess who won this?

    image

Yup, it's @StayOrGo , who at last got his head in front of the battle with his lad, George. Well done Graham, that must have tasted sweet.

    @POKEY2011 was 3rd, with horse-racing fan @wynne1938 4th.

@SUPERSNEDD was 8th, his turn will come, for sure.

Quite a story behind the chap in 24th, @JBieber . I have a hunch he might have had a drink or two judging by the thread he started last night.

Justin Bieber drunk? Never gonna happen.

One of my University flatmates is a young Italian girl doing a year of study in the UK. We were walking through Leeds city centre yesterday and she was absolutely stunned that we have Christmas decorations set up already and that they'll be switched on within a couple of weeks.

There was even a Christmas tree complete with decorations in one of the storefronts, too. IT'S STILL OCTOBER. STOP. :|

Love these reviews and thanks for taking the time to do them.
Nice rub down yesterday although to be fair 266th is usually my finishing position.
Congrats Tom super effort last night.

Getting better (apart from some dodgy pictures).

Is there a mini UKOPS following on from this btw?

    Payne Stewart is the golfer.

Horrible news from Leicester. Puts all football results and rivalries into perspective.

Great to see Glen Hoddle appears to be doing better in hospital, still can't believe the news at Leicester.

As a Leicester fan, I need to say the club is indebted to that family, they have been the perfect owners, donate a lot to local charities and without them we wouldn't have had our miracle Premiership title - just typing the words bring a smile to my face.

Such a tragedy and makes you realise you need to enjoy every day.
