Afternoon all, & welcome to the review of Xmas UKOPS Day 2.

Same drill as yesterday, results & comment on each of last night's UKOPS affairs, mixed up with a few memorable photos & moments from 2018.

Oh, & thank you for the nice comments yesterday, it's much appreciated.

OK, off we go.

    Overlay Report

    7 of the 9 events covered, so that's OK.

    The 2 exceptions were;

    1) The 4pm event, which missed for the 2nd day running. Looks like 4pm starts might not work.

    2) The PLO8, which missed by around 20%, exactly as the PLO did on Day 1. The 4 card players make their voices heard "what about us?", & I'm amongst them, but time & time again PLO & PLO8 UKOPS events seem to miss Guarantee. It's a shame, but we can't argue with the numbers. It's one of the great mysteries of poker to me, as it is such a beautiful & highly-skilled game, & pot limit is the nuts, but it is what it is. And we are never THAT far ahead - or behind - in PLO.

    UKOPS 9, £2,000 Bounty Hunter, £11 entry

    Yet another cash for @Mattsmum who is having a decent UKOPS, and a fine effort in 21st from @chrisdonkb, a spot behind @Allan23, with @PKRPar 2 spots better.

    @loololollo was 13th, while there was a 4th cash of this UKOPS for @peiratis88 who ran 9th.

    The Final finished like this;

    @Kez7810 504000 1 £316.10 + £122.55 Head Prizes 10

    @SOLAR4 0 2 £189.66 + £39.15 Head Prizes 7

    @paul10 0 3 £116 + £47 Head Prizes 7

    @omm 0 4 £91.06 + £11.25 Head Prizes 3

    @guardsman 0 5 £77.72 + £4.69 Head Prizes 1

    @murray1605 0 6 £65.42 + £31.73 Head Prizes 7

    Pleased to see @omm cash, he's a great guy, & here's a photo I took of him living the dream at the WSOP this summer;

    Congrats go to the winner, @Kez7810, who also took the "most head prizes" award with 10 heads.

    A little diversion here to congratulate Sky Poker player @spitfire10 who was presented with this rather lovely award yesterday; (posted with his permission)

    UKOPS 10, £2,000 Freezeout, £22 entry

    There were a few surprisingly early exits in this one, but old @HAYSIE gets pride of place, finishing 103rd of, well, 103. Mind you, he was not alone, & @BlairReid, @direwolf, @fredsgirl, @devil_tear, @unbpower & @MattBates all followed in double quick time. Freezeout, see?

    At the sharp end, I noticed @dewi-cool finished close up. He's a grand chap, here he is staring at the camera & looking as happy as he ever does. (He's Welsh).

    image

    Plenty of familiar names in the mini-money spots including @timeforbed, @RogueCell, @gac123, @jordz16, @HANSON, @jawzindawz, @chicknmelt & @MonkeyGLB.

    In the Final, was delighted to see @stokefc come 6th. He's the Sky Poker Forum voice of reason when the more, err, eccentric sorts come on the Forum & start crying like babies & punctuating their post with a forest of exclamation marks because their Aces got beat or whatever.

    Well done too to @bromley023, seem here having a chunter about Burnley FC for the No Nay Never Podcast;

    image

    Worth mentioning that Natalie & her 2 colleagues who produce that Podcast recently made the UK Final of "Football Podcast of the Year" from a huge field of entries & was shortlisted to win. Never won, sadly (emulating Burnley), but a great effort by Natters.

    @rspca12 ran 3rd, no surprise there, with @Pokerden25 2nd.

    Top of the shop was @Mattsmum, collecting £555 for what was his 4th cash already in this UKOPS. Well done Sir. Or Madam.

    UKOPS 11, £2,000 Deepstack, £22 entry

    110 runners here, & at the wrong end were @Sidv79 & @EssexPhil, but they were in good company as @rspca12 & @Mattsmum were early exits too.

    Plenty of familiar names in the mini-money spots, including @MattBates, (he needs to stop over-betting), @loololollo, @2Guys1Acct, @DustoLucko, @devil_tear & @TommyD.

    The Final was a corker, with @HAYSIE somehow finishing 6th, just behind @chrisdonkb & @MikeyW94.

    Must have been an old-timers special, as in addition to @Haysie, @MISTY4Me ran 3rd.

    Runner-up was @EVGENIA, with the win going to the boy Groggs, aka @FeelGroggy. Well done Groggs, & "who are you?" @rspca12?

    An amazing moment from the 2018 poker year.

    image

    The fella praying is Jake Cody, & the chap in the black hoodie with his back to us is Rob Yong, owner of DTD.

    Jake had just won the DTD High Roller for £40,000, & for whatever reason, decided to put the lot on black on the roulette wheel, with Rob Yong spinning the wheel.

    And it landed on......BLACK

    Not sure I could ever do that, but then again, I'd never win a High Roller.

    WAL.

    UKOPS 12, £2,000 PLO8, £22 entry

    Early exits for @EssexPhil, @SidV79, @HENDRIK62, so no surprises there, and they were joined early doors by @TommyD & PLO8 specialist @eon1961.

    @smartca627 snuck into the money in 10th spot.

    Was great to see @Markycash run deep, he was there or thereabouts all Tourney, but faded at the end, but 6th was handy enough. It was his first game back after a 3 month absence. I watched him throughout, & it was the usual Markycash stuff, getting it in bad with deleterious matter such as 2-2-2-9 ("I had wheel blockers"), 3-3-3-8 & general assorted rubbish. Worst PLO8 player I've ever seen. But I love him.

    In 5th was @ivydrive who won the PLO8 in the last UKOPS iirc. Good player, & an Ice Hockey fan if I'm not mistaken.

    Yet another deep run - 4th this time - for @Mattsmum, whilst it was great to see Tuney aka @Enut in 3rd, what an effort that was.

    1st & 2nd went to players more usually associated with NLH - @chicknmelt (2nd) with the win going to cash game specialist @alancarr12.

    @alancarr12 336000 1 £580

    @chicknMelt 0 2 £340

    @Enut 0 3 £240

    @Mattsmum 0 4 £200

    @Ivydrive 0 5 £160

    @markycash 0 6 £138

    Here's Melty getting the lot at an SPT, as per;

    2018 Poker Player of the Year?

    Has to be this man;

    image

    Yup, it's Justin Bonomo, who got the absolute lot in 2018.

    Those with long memories will recall he was embroiled in a whopping scandal back in 2006, when he was caught allegedly multi-accounting, ("zeejustin") though as far as I can see, he's straightened his act up these days.

    Two oddities about Justin.

    1) He has the best posture at the table I've ever seen of any pro poker player. Mostly they slouch, round-shouldered, but Justin sits really well & has wonderful posture.

    2) He practices polyamory.

    He practices WHAT? Here, this;

    UKOPS 13, £20,000 Bounty Hunter Main Event, £110 entry

    At £20,000, compared to £15,000 for a similar Main Event on Day 1, this looked a bit ambitious to me, but it got over the line with a bit to spare eventually.

    Deep runs & head prizes went to @rosiedog00, @chicknmelt, @scotty77, @alancarr12, @wineli, @devil_tear, @limp2lose, @Morris707, @Mattsmum (again), @Nosebleed with the bubble going to @feelgroggy.

    In a gruelling Final Table, it ended like this;

    @CWOOD10 2130000 1 £2902.12 + £1170.90 Head Prizes 8

    @windever08 0 2 £1741.28 + £699.90 Head Prizes 12

    @MattBates 0 3 £1065 + £377.36 Head Prizes 8

    @RexRegina 0 4 £836.02 + £577.47 Head Prizes 8

    @TimmyRaRa 0 5 £713.55 + £322.41 Head Prizes 6

    @PokerPicks 0 6 £600.66 + £339.39 Head Prizes 4

    4th place for @TimmyRaRa was batting well above his average. He's used to that though - here he is at SPT Las Vegas this year, with the delightful Anna.

    Newspapers love puntastic or weird headlines. Really, I should not like them, but I have to grudgingly admit some of them do amuse.

    UKOPS 14, £5,000 Mini Bounty Hunter, £11 entry

    A monsta 763 uniques & re-entries in this one, so the guarantee was never in danger.

    Poor old @Madprof was a very early exit, followed a few spots later my Lord Mardy, aka Jac35, currently on his 43rd Diary sabbatical of 2018. He'll be back when Derby start winning, but don't hold your breath.

    "Most heads" went to the winner, @kinghigh07, taking no less than 18, which might be a record (so far) for this UKOPS.

    Cashes for @Essexphil, @day4eire76, @nosebleed_, @bert21, @angmar2626, @jakally & on the final table bubble, @Catsnap.

    I've not seen @jakally in ages, he works at DTD these days, or did the last I heard;

    image

    Final Table?

    @kinghigh07 2289000 1 £953.75 + £246.91 Head Prizes 18

    @DjDawab 0 2 £534.10 + £80.60 Head Prizes 12

    @HONEYBUSH 0 3 £315.12 + £24.58 Head Prizes 4

    @Haydenx37 0 4 £249.88 + £76.89 Head Prizes 10

    @TommyD 0 5 £209.82 + £100.80 Head Prizes 12

    @rspca12 0 6 £169.77 + £44.64 Head Prizes 4

    Seems like @TommyD & @rspca12 are both having a decent UKOPS.

    UKOPS 15, £4,000 Bounty Hunter, £22 entry

    Most heads went to @kingjane with 14, which is pretty good for a 168 entry event.

    First cashes of the series went to @SUPERSNEDD (11th) & @gregster (9th).

    Another Final table for @rspca12, but making a run for Player of the Series was @peiratis88 who took it down for his 5th cash of the series, including a 1st, 2nd & 6th. Great stuff, & more to come I fancy.

    With January 1st just days away, many of us will have to get back on a diet to shed all that excess weight. I certainly will.

    Here's some inspiration, how about this for weight loss?

    Three serial cashers in 9th, 10th & 11th respectively in @Itsover4u, @peiratis88 & @PKRPar.

    Arguably, the toughest Final Table of the Series;

    @gac123 415000 1 £601.75 + £507.87 Head Prizes 10

    @jubb 0 2 £394.25 + £65.63 Head Prizes 3

    @rspca12 0 4 £197.12 + £141.81 Head Prizes 5

    @loololollo 0 5 £160.81 + £127.73 Head Prizes 6

    14th was @feelgroggy, and another cash for @Bromley023 in 10th.

    @TommyD 417000 1 £382.25 + £226.06 Head Prizes 10

    @chicknMelt 0 2 £230.74 + £94.81 Head Prizes 9

    About time @TommyD won one of these, it's been way too long.
