Bosch TV spin-off confirmed ahead of final season
Bosch has landed a TV spin-off ahead of its finale.
The Amazon Prime series will come to an end this summer with the airing of its seventh and final season.
However, it has now been confirmed the adventures of the eponymous Harry Bosch (Titus Welliver), his daughter Maddie (Madison Lintz) and Honey 'Money' Chandler (Mimi Rogers) will continue in a new series to air on IMDb TV in the US.
The untitled spin-off will begin filming later this year and follow Bosch as he teams up with his former enemy Honey while embarking on an exciting new chapter of his career.
To say I am ecstatic is an understatement!" Welliver said (via TVLine).
"To be given the opportunity to tell more Harry Bosch stories is a tremendous gift. The process of shooting season 7 with the shadow of it being our final loomed heavily so when the idea was presented to continue with the possibility of a spin-off, without hesitation I said, 'Let's go.'
"To all of our Bosch fans, thank for your incredible support for all these years and I can promise you the ride will only get better!"
Based on a character created by novelist Michael Connelly, Bosch premiered in 2014.
The original seasons followed Bosch's work as an LAPD homicide detective while he searched for his mother's killer.
The character faced more heartbreak in season 5 when his former partner and Maddie's mother Eleanor (Sarah Clarke) was killed while assisting the FBI in a gambling investigation.
Bosch season 7 will air this summer on Amazon Prime.
