JANET STREET-PORTER: Lockdown-crazed Brits, a national weekend drinkathon (with no loos) and an ongoing pandemic, what could possibly go wrong?
JANET STREET-PORTER: What are your plans for so-called Super Saturday this weekend? If you've any sense, don't leave home. July 4th might spell freedom for some, but - based on recent displays of social distancing on the streets of Brixton, the beaches of Bournemouth and the swampy ponds on Hackney marshes - the partial reopening of pubs and restaurants will encourage huge crowds to gather, along with illegal music, freely available drugs, dangerous fireworks and an outnumbered police force trying and failing to contain the inevitable anti-social behaviour. The end result will be mountains of litter, lakes of vomit, and plenty of poo as our public toilets remain firmly shut.
The Leicester lockdown divide: Neighbours living just inches apart tell of their confusion as city is split between those who MUST stay home and those gaining new freedoms - as police say they will spot-check cars leaving restricted zone
Britons living on the same street in Scraptoft, Leicester (bottom right, the border on Bowhill Grove) have been split down the middle by new coronavirus measures which leave half of them inside local lockdown and others not. Those affected by the split today said they were 'totally confused' by the Government's lockdown boundary, as it leaves half the road under strict lockdown and others free to enjoy the nationwide easing of restrictions on July 4. Neighbours, of whom some are inside and some are outside the lockdown zone, have been separated only by a wooden picket fence on one street near Thurncourt. Helen Bale, 49, (left with Lisa Jones and Shelly Evans) who faces restrictions, today said she is disappointed she will have to wait even longer to visit friends and family outside Leicester, because those inside the zone are now limited to just essential travel. Meanwhile, Emil Gryglewski (right of left with David Blohm, who is also outside the border), 33, is glad to be on the right side of the lockdown line but sympathetic to his neighbours, who are not.
Coronavirus jobs catastrophe: Food retailer Upper Crust confirms plans to lay off 5,000 - half its workforce - as unions call for Government help after Airbus sheds 1,700 people in UK, EasyJet announces 4,500 roles are at risk and Bensons for Beds
Upper Crust owner SSP Group is axing up to 5,000 UK jobs as the coronavirus pandemic wreaks havoc on the British economy (left, Upper Crust store in Marylebone Station). SSP's job cuts could represent up to 55 per cent of its 9,000-strong workforce employed in the UK during the summer period. It comes as Airbus, Europe's biggest aircraft manufacturer, announced plans to slash nearly 15,000 jobs across its global operations - including 1,700 in the UK (centre right, logo of Airbus is pictured at the entrance of the Airbus facility in Bouguenais, near Nantes, France). Meanwhile EasyJet (top right, EasyJet aircraft at Stansted Airport) said 4,500 jobs were at risk, and Bensons for Beds, Harveysand TM Lewin (bottom right, exterior of store on Oxford Street in London) all announced layoffs and store closures.
Face masks: "We know that wearing a mask outside health care facilities offers little, if any, protection from infection. Public health authorities define a significant exposure to Covid-19 as face-to-face contact within 6 feet with a patient with symptomatic Covid-19 that is sustained for at least a few minutes (and some say more than 10 minutes or even 30 minutes). The chance of catching Covid-19 from a passing interaction in a public space is therefore minimal. In many cases, the desire for widespread masking is a reflexive reaction to anxiety over the pandemic."
Boris Johnson attacks Nicola Sturgeon's 'astonishing and shameful' English quarantine warning
Boris Johnson has lambasted Nicola Sturgeon over her "absolutely astonishing and shameful" warning she will consider introducing quarantine for English visitors to Scotland if there is a surge in cases south of the Border.

I am not sure about a wall, they would probably have to bring Trump over for that to happen.
But a border is possible.
