Some of you may recognise my name having played some DYMs on Sky Poker recently, because I sure recognise some of your names from the tables.
After reading some threads on this forum, it generally seems like a very friendly place with a fairly small group of like-minded players (unlike some other places on the internet where there are many 1,000 of active users), making it what I feel would be a great place to put something like this. And from seeing other posts similar to this, others must have thought the same.
Although, there are generally no other public forums or sites [poker related or otherwise] where I actively and frequently participate - I am merely almost always a lurker - and for the reason above, I have decided to kind of change that habit and document all my foreseeable poker activity here and also become an active member of this community.
First, let me share a little background information about me as a poker player. I started playing online poker from around 2005 during the 'poker boom' phase after Chris Moneymaker won the WSOP Main Event from a Satellite Ticket. From then, I played more and more, and became a member of just about every active poker site since then. However, my main site to play on was PokerStars. I played very, very regularly until maybe 4 or 5 years ago when I started not to enjoy poker as much. And since then, until quite recently, I only played sporadically. Overall, I have played 10,000s of tournaments and a good few million hands (mainly SnG), so I certainly have at least a fair chunk of experience when it comes to online poker, although, considering the many years and vast number of hands I have played does not necessarily mean I am as experienced or as knowledgeable as any other player. This is down to one simple fact... I am a losing player, and always have been - but hopefully not forever.
This can be easily shown on any search of my poker usernames on any of the tracking websites [I will actually attach an image of my tournament stats and graph from PokerStars, if i can, to this post], hence why I regularly reset my statistics, when I can, on these sites out of sheer embarrassment of my swingy stats and the desire to finally get one of those lovely, almost diagonally straight-lined graphs. I have started many times on the right track but, ultimately, I have failed to do this on every attempt to date, and the creation of this thread will hopefully change that by helping to motivate myself with the fear of failure on a public forum and with any kind encouragement and support the community may kindly provide.
Additionally to playing online, I have played in a local Weekly Pub Poker League for several years and a Bowling Club league prior to that. The results from these are always very much successful, mainly finishing 1st or 2nd in the overall annual standings every year barring once or twice finishing 3rd. In these games there are generally between 22-32 players each week and although the competition in these games are quite weak, there are some other very good players, making me believe I am somewhat of an above average player having a proven consistent success rate in these games. And because it is almost impossible for my biggest weakness [as described next] to occur in this setting,
The main culprit for me being a consistent losing online player over all these years is simply down to my discipline. I will usually always eventually very quickly tilt my whole bankroll to zero after a few bad sessions/days/downsings/variance. I think my positive average ROI % on the included stats/graphs attests to this. However, I am always willing to learn and take any constructive criticism from anyone. So please share any of your tips or hints, especially with ways to deal with bad beats etc and tilt-prevention.
I am sorry about the wall of text above, and hopefully not bored you all to death. My intentions were to include just a small introductory, but my fingers would not stop typing

DYMs BR Management that i'll emply. It is quite aggressive in the lower levels and becomes less risky in the mid to high levels, as, I would like to start playing the mid-level games as quick as possible.

From this BR Management plan, the number of buyins for each level varies from 10x at the lowest levels to 75x at the highest levels, with all levels allowing for buyins to take at least 5 "shots" at the level above whilst still remaining at the top end of the level below if the "shot" is unsuccessful. This allows for a fair chance of moving up the levels quicker if any of the "shots" are successful. I hope anyone interested understands what I trying to convey and what the above strategy means. If not, I can answer any questions and also take any feedback.
Also, regarding MTTs, I will be sure to always have at least 30 buyins, however, will aim to not play any stakes higher than £11 with anything less than 50 buyins unless it is a special one-off promotional tournament with higher prizepools/value or gain entry via satellites. Additionally, I will not play any more than 4 MTT at once.
I have no plans to play any cash games.

What I initially plan to include in the update posts will be essentially the same stats you get with the likes of those tracking sites, such as;
Daily/Weekly/Monthly Profits
Tournaments Played
ITM
ROI
Weekly/Monthly Profit graphs
Running BR total
etc.
I have used PokerTracker to track all my play and progress in the past, and because SkyPoker is not compatible with this software, I am in the process of creating my own spreadsheet (I am happy to share this also). I only know the basics of excel, so I am learning and researching as I go along so there may be some errors/bugs in some of the formulae. So this should help with providing and sharing those key stats.
Also, if there are any stat in particular someone would like included, please let me know and I'll try to provide it if possible.

I am not sure what else to include in this starting post, however, I am more than happy to answer any question any one has. Again, sorry for the length of this post. I promise that the updates will be without any waffle.
I look forward to sharing this particular poker journey with you all, and hope at least one of you will enjoy it also.
Let's all improve as poker players together!
P.S. here are those images with the stats from most of my play at PokerStars

Really interesting post
Gl with this
I play a few Dyms so may meet you on the tables soon
Thanks, I appreciate the comment.
Yup, I will no doubt see you around. I wish you good luck also, although, not so much if ever flipping against me
GL with this @thedazzman , pleased to have you here.
"I promise that the updates will be without any waffle."
Nothing wrong with a bit of waffle.
My first question - what sort of day job do you have?
gl with this.
Your waffles fine because you mentioned spreadsheets.
This titling problem.
Have yo tried any ways to fix it?
You are quite right. I think waffles are particularly good with maple syrup!!
Good question, although, there really is not much of an interesting answer,
I work in a supermarket. Nothing exciting, but as they say, it helps pay the bills. Hopefully in the coming weeks/months they'll be some help in that regard from our common interest. Poker.
Thanks for the forgiveness. I take it you like a bit of spreadsheeting? After googling a few of the formula, it seems it is a very specialised and complex thing that can do many millions of different cool things.
Anyway, the issue of tilting. What have I tried to fix it?
Well, not a lot really. I have read up on poker articles about tilt in the past, however, I feel all the suggestions are too easily ignored. I guess, what I am trying to do here, by talking to like-minded people and expressing my emotions a little may help. I just need to remain disciplined, determined and not be short-term results oriented and keep thinking of the long game. I cannot control the cards. I really do feel I am a winning player to a certain point, and if that is true, I will come out profitable over the long term.
Hopefully most will be positive updates.
Good luck at the tables
"Just another day at the office" although, quite frustrating, witnessing what the general public are doing, especially during these times.
I'm gonna try my best
I have just finished playing my first small session. Nothing much to report. I will post my first update tonight or over the weekend after playing a few more sessions.
Going by your avatar, I am a bit more southerly than the area of that team. You'll be looking forward to Championship football again once the season restarts.
Good luck at the tables
