    Is this a new documentary?

Sadly, she is one of the many missing children in the world.

    It is.

Just coming up to the 13th anniversary of her disappearance.

I found bits of it surprising.

Not sure if it's for me.

Reviews aren't great, question the objectivity and new information on the case.

I just knew the bare facts, before watching it.

I was surprised that the parents, and their friends lied initially, and changed their statements a number of times.

Although I would accept that this may well have been to try to minimise their negligence, rather than to cover up their guilt.

For instance the Dad maintained that he entered through the locked front door to check on the kids, when he entered through the back door, which was a patio door, and was left open.

There was not a good view of the apartment, from their table in the restaurant.

A number of people commented that had they made the number of checks on the kids that they claimed, there would have been nobody sat at the table in the restaurant.

As a Doctor you would assume he is quite clever.

You would therefore wonder why he would allow up to 20 people into the apartment, which was the crime scene, prior to the police arriving.

The twins were later moved to a different apartment, but remained asleep throughout. This was despite up to 20 people screaming, shouting, and crying in the apartment, and being moved.

There was some suspicion of Maddie being giving an overdose of some sleep inducing drug. This was fuelled by the twins not waking up.

The Mother claimed that the shutters, and the bedroom window were open, yet when the police arrived, both the shutters and the window were closed.

A tragic case of some parental ‘ negligence’* gone wrong...an error of judgment which they are unfortunately living with...( not sure I could live with it..)

*negligence...thinking it was ok to leave you kids alone , whilst having a meal with mates down the road...I’m sure lots of parents have done similar in the past ...

What do you think happened to her?

Tragically, I feel she was either kidnapped and sadly has been murdered because of the heat surrounding the case OR taken and sold off .....hopefully in time an 18-20 year old woman will have the courage to return to her family...I hope so!

I have thought about it a bit more since watching the documentary.

Over the years I have read the headlines, watched the news reports, and thought that it was an absolute tragedy, without any real knowledge of the facts.

I found some of the parents actions disturbing.

As I pointed to earlier, changing statements, the lies, their treatment of the crime scene, and the sleeping twins all seem suspicious.

It is thought that the rest of their party was warned off speaking to, or answering any questions from the press.

They have stuck to this over the years.

Three of the party swore they saw Robert Murat, at the resort that night, despite the fact that this was another lie.

He was a good Samaritan that had his life ruined because of this.

In a very high percentage of these cases the culprit is a parent, family member, or friend of the family.

I think that their stories set out to minimise their negligence.

For instance on the day they arrived, they made a booking in the restaurant every night for the whole week at 8.30 pm.

    Their intentions were clear.

They told the person taking the booking that they intended to leave the 8 young children in the party, alone in their respective apartments.

A note to this effect was made in the book used to log bookings.

When Mrs McCann was made aware of the note, she kicked off about the possibility of a paedophile having access to it, rather than consider the danger of planning to leave 8 very young kids alone every night for the whole week.

The likeliest eventuality is that this poor kid wandered off and died.

Parents want to blame a paedophile as that would mean they were less culpable. Why would a person take the 1 person who could identify them, and leave behind the 2 that couldn't?

It is heartless, and downright dangerous, to leave children this young alone every night. I'm amazed that they weren't struck off, and their other kids taken into care.

    The surprising things are:-

    1. They have never felt the need to apologise for their part in all this (yet able to threaten to sue anyone else); and
    2. They are still together. Every other couple I have encountered in this sort of tragedy have split up, as one blames the other Partner at some level. But the McCanns seem oblivious to any part (knowingly or otherwise) they played in this.

I have doubts about this as it wasn't that late when she went missing, and she might have been spotted wandering about.
If not you would have thought that they would have found her remains by now.

I agree if she was taken for financial gain, why not take all three children.

    Their week was planned out.

    Maybe they felt jointly guilty,

    Other surprises for me were,

Why would the perpetrator exit through a window?

How do you exit through a window carrying a small child?

Why not exit through the patio at the rear?

Why did they stand by, while the crime scene was destroyed?
