Great work Tikay, much appreciated! Well done winners, hope you had a few quid on too...it appears the way my horses are running at present are mirroring the way I'm playing poker....not very good!
Cracking little jockey is Hollie Doyle....think she'll be without question the most successful female jock going forward...

Could not agree more as to Hollie, horses just seem to run for her, similar to the way horses ran for Cauthen & Piggott. An extraordinary talent. She'll certainly be the top female jock, & if she can get a retainer for a top yard the sky is the limit for her. Lovely to see.
Hope you are enjoying the Comp - I'm sure the winners will come soon. It's like poker, we need to ride the variance.
Those two just a bit before my time although I did get to see Lester in the flesh at Chester many years ago in his latter years...
More of a Fallon and Eddery man...just reading the formers book for the second time...will always be number one for me and great to see his lad doing so well too..

Indeed.
With regards to flat racing (and more so with AW racing), strength in the saddle is generally overrated by punters. Tactical nous, and often finesse, are greater assets - if anyone is unsure of this, just ask yourself; how else can a seven-and-half stone girl compete with men off a level playing field. Is there another sport that can boast this fact? Darts, maybe?
Sure, SDS will likely out-battle Doyle in the final 50 yards of a Catterick Seller, but there is more to racing than the final furlong of a plater at Catterick.
For me, prior to her injury and involvement with 'Casper', Hayley would be the best female jockey I have seen, to date.
I guess the main 'weakness' of female jockeys is the short career span, often because the impacts of injuries can be greater in relation to the male body, and life-choices (starting a family, etc).
So, there you have it, racing truly is the Sport of Kings. And Queens.

Lester was my "hero" in the days I had sporting heroes, and I was so disappointed when he ended up in prison for tax fraud, it really tarnished the legacy of a supremely gifted jockey. It's not as if he needed the money, he must be worth over a hundred million when you take into account he was gifted a share of the stallion fees for each the Classic winners he rode. I still love him though.
I've not read the Kieron Fallon book but it's on my bucket list, & yes, Cieron is a chip off the old block in the saddle, but hopefully not off it....
I was a big fan of Eddery too, & was at Ascot on the day him & Joe Mercer fought out the Race Of The Century, Eddery on Grundy, Joe Mercer on Bustino who went on to win the Leger. To this day I can still recall Grundy's breeding - Great Nephew out of Word From Lundy, & was trained by Peter Walwyn at Seven Barrows. Bustino was owned by Lady Beaverbrook, who survived an assassination attempt by the Angry Brigade. She had a whole stable of horses, almost all of which had 7 letters in their name & ended with "O".
You've got me reminiscing now, & I get incredibly boring when I wander off down Memory .Lane. Stop provoking me, I love it.
Have really missed the racing...as a racing fan (not for the betting) even though I am more a NH man, still enjoy the flat though...
Agree with mushroom too...give me brain over braun any day of the week!
Thought Fallon had both in abundance though which set him apart for me...some of these girls nowadays though I reckon would give over half the lads riding a run for their money strength wise too. Think my money would be on Hollie if she had an arm wrestle with her partner! Another I really like Nicola Currie would put many to shame I reckon...arms like a bloke, meant in the nicest possible way...
Think that's whats held Josie Gordon back a bit from really kicking on...I've a mate who speaks regularly to someone who works in Newmarket and the word was a lot feel she's very weak in a finish...I know one owner said he'd never let her ride for him again because of it...
Hayley Turner owes me nothing, I only ever bet horses when I go to a race meeting and at Chester and Yarmouth she was always ultra competitive. Both left hand courses by the way.
Hollie Doyle will take her crown as top female jockey and its much deserved.

Same here with Hayley, even when in "semi-retirement" she was always worth following if getting a ride.
She certainly broke down a few barriers but Hollie seems set to set the bar extremely high for those that follow.
