With Lingfield & Newcastle both on the AW, it was an easy decision to stick with Newmarket today.
It's the Guineas Meet, but we are going to swerve the 2000 Guineas itself as the betting market is not much fun.
Instead, we will stick to our 2 regular races, the 17.20 & 17.55.
17.20 - 6f handicap, 11 runners, Good to Firm, Draw Advantage HIGH
17.55 - 1m 4f handicap, 9 runners, Good to Firm, Draw Advantage NONE
Apropos nothing really, but anyone know why the correct annotation of 2000 Guineas does not include a comma in 2,000, as it would normally?

In fact, it isn't something I've even noticed before - don't worry, I'm given myself a severe dressing down for this oversight.
My first guess was that it was sponsor related. However, I've looked back over the past five different sponsors and each renewal had the missing comma.
The plot thickened when I saw the Irish 1,000 and 2,000 Guineas include the comma.
While visiting other counties (max flight 2.5 hours, unless it's that city in Nevada), I've noticed different (in relation to the UK) use of numerical commas in shops. I am fairly sure that in Spain, Italy, France and Germany products costing one Euro and fifty cents are written as 1,50 - with a comma used instead of a decimal point. Furthermore, in Spain and Italy, I believe that a decimal point is used to separate thousands, in the same way we would use a comma...
So, 2,000 would be written as 2.000.
I am happy to be corrected with any of the above, but, should all this be the case, could this be a reason as to why the official title of the race includes a comma-less four-digit number? After all, the UK classics have always been keen to attract foreign raiders and, in turn, strive to be classed as the standard bearers of the continent.
I may have gone off in completely the wrong direction with this, but I am genuinely intrigued. I am hoping this was a loaded question from @Tikay10 and that he has an answer for us.
