Just had e-mail from British Gas regarding the 'Energy Price Cap'. My electric is rising by 6% and gas by 9% so an overall rise of 15% and then there is the next rise due in January.

Something is a bit wrong here.

Per cent is per 100. So-if your electric is going up by 6% and gas 9% then (if they are roughly equal) it is going up by 7.5%
Fixed your post but your maths is otherwise correct.

Percentages were never my strong point but I got two separate e-mails, one for each separate usage. The electric estimated price increase worked out to 6%, the second for the gas worked out to a 9% increase so I thought that would be a 15% increase. Have just got my calculator out and my current price is XXXX and the estimated increased price will be YYYY the difference between the two is roughly 7% maths can be confusing. I knew I should've paid more attention in maths class 40 years ago :D

Don't worry it's a poker site, maths is not important, it's all about who is luckiest! :D
