@tomgoodun The word tard is used more or less in place of the word idiot these days. That's how widespread it is. I'm not saying I agree with it's use but just making you aware of the fact.

The English Language is so complex, but let’s not fool ourselves into believing certain words mean different things.
If the word tard is being used in place of the word idiot, why do you think that is? Why just not put a profanity in front of idiot to give it more oomph.
The word ‘tard is short for retard, hence the apostrophe, and no amount of sleight of hand, or bull.... reasoning is going to convince me otherwise.
The word awful is supposed to mean full of awe as well, but I urge you not to tell someone you admire that you think they're awful.
The person who called you tard called you such because he didn't like your play, or you bad beat him, and NOT because they think you're a retard. They have no idea whether you are a retard or not because they've never met you, and you're aware of that, so it's a bit daft getting so offended by it.

I agree it's not acceptable but being called a tard in the chat box is normal. It happens every single day. I suppose it depends on your definition of normal. If normal is a usual occurrence that happens regularly, then yes it's normal.
