15 years ago maybe more the Irish would of had 10 winners max on that going it was well known that most needed the ground soft/heavy,how times have change.

Better Horses, better Jockeys, Better Trainers and FAR BETTER PRIZE MONEY....... No wonder British (and American) Owners would rather have their horses trained in Ireland.

Still, as punters, at least we can watch and see how good the Irish horses are pre-Cheltenham ....... Imagine if we didn't have RacingTV and Irish Racing wasn't broadcast in Betting Shops/we couldn't see it, and the Irish came over to Cheltenham and won as many races as they have...... and all we knew was the British Form......... How expensive would that have been?

I'm sure @NChanning and @misterpj would have an insight into what was going on ;)

BET of the WEEK was obviously IRISH to win the Prestbury Cup T 2/7........ EASY with Hindsight :p

Agree with all you said Misty although I dont watch much Irish racing and too loyal to the brits for my own good. Think big Brit trainers have let Covid hit them too badly, and they have taken their eyes off the ball. Note a lot of the smaller stables have made hay this season but obviously havent got the ammunition to give the Irish a run for their money at cheltenham. Also no doubt the size of the fields in Ireland means you can hide a lot from the handicapper. Small fields in this country makes it difficult to hide clever rides to keep good mark. also two many weight rises for placed efforts.

Just an aside it certainly seems to have been a good time for the girls, Jockeys, trainers and mares/fillies. Never known so many winners for all of them, they have definitely made hay during Covid.
