The winner of the first race at Cheltenham today - "Poker de Sivola!

So if any poker players are amongst those who take no notice of the "experts" & back on the basis of "I liked the name", or "it was the grey one" or somesuch, they got off to a good start.

Poker related names in the next, the 2.05, which is a Novices Hurdle, include....

Finions Rainbow. As in "rainbow" flop.

Rite of Passage Well "pass" & "passage" are sort of close....)

Peddlers Cross. As in "nut peddler".

Baily Rock. As in, err, a rock.

Odds & info are HERE

Any chance of TWO "poker" relatad names on the bounce?

In the 2.40, there are one or two candidates.....

    Diamond Harry. Suit.

    Citizen Vic. The Vic Card-Room.

Chasing Cars. For those draw chasers.

Not sure I can include "Burton Port", unless I make a typo & call it Button Port?

    The full details are here

How do you bet for a horse to get a place? Is there a minimum you need to bet?

I want to put Burton Port on a place finish...

    Also want it to be

    Diamond Harry
    Punchestowns
    Burton Port

Whats it called for them 3 to finish in any order?

You can see all the different bets available, including Win only, "each-way" (win/place), forecast, tricast, & the various nanny prices for the next race HERE  though it's a little late - luckily for you! - for the 2.40.

Next up is one of THE most famous & traditional NH Races of the year - "The Queen Mother". Not THE Queen Mum, but "The Queen Mother Champion Chase". Arguably, the 2nd most prestigious race on the NH Calender, after the Gold Cup.

    Poker selections are.....

    Master Minded. As in MasterCash.

    Kalahari KING

Oh Crick. After John Mccririck, our SPT guest a week or so back.

    Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!

I reckon we could beat the so called "experts" like this!

In the trappy Fred Winter  at 4.40, (God help me, I remember Fred whe he was a jockey!), we could have.....

    Open Day

    Causeway King

    Loch Long

Your winnings will be 10 times 15(to include stake return) = £150, times 15 = £2250 for the win and 1/4 odds for the EW = £562.50 and a total of £2812.50, not bad for £20 i think lool

Sorry M8, I have backed that as well @ 14/1. Due to the fact I have never backed 3 winners in a day before it should be 66/1.

It's many a year since I passed my "Settling Course" (all done on mental arithmetic in those days, before Genies & Computers were invented!) but I think that is wrong.

    It's full odds to a quarter of the stake, or full stake to a quarter odds. So more like £10 @ 7/2 = £35 + stake of £10 = £45, x 7/2 = £157.50 + £45 stake = £202.50, roughly. Or maybe I'm wrong, & I'll get me coat......
