Morning.
Traffic was decidedly sprightly, with Main, Mini, Summit all doing very well, and Quickdraw then trumped the lot by coming in at almost double the guarantee.
In sport, Sean Murphy lost to an amateur in the 1st round of the UK championships, then went off on a bit of a rant.
"I am going to sound like a grumpy old man but that young man shouldn't be in the tournament.
It is not fair, it is not right.
I feel extremely hard done by that I have lost to someone who shouldn't even be in the building.
I don't know why we as a sport allow amateurs to compete in professional tournaments. This is our livelihood. This is our living. We are self-employed individuals and not contracted sportsmen. We don't play for a team.
The other 127 runners and riders in the tournament, it is their livelihood too. It is wrong, in my opinion, to walk into somebody who is not playing with the same pressures and concerns I am.
He played like a man who does not have a care in the world, because he does not have a care in the world. It is not fair, it is not right.
I am not picking on him as a young man, he deserved his victory. Amateurs should not be allowed in professional tournaments, the end.
This is our livelihood. This is how I put food on the table. This is how I earn money. Since turning professional at 15, I have earned the right to call myself a professional snooker player. He hasn't done that. He shouldn't be on the table."Don't think Sean will be making too many friends off the back of that - but does he have a fair point?
Never mind Sean, if snooker goes wrong there's always the World Gurning Championships.

luckme002 returned to Sky Poker after a 3 week absence & got straight on his winning bike, taking 7 @ 7 & running 5th in Turbo.2021 has been a challenging year for Jeni82 but 2nd here hopefully signals the start of the turnaround.
The player in 4th - do you think that's the car they hope to own, or are they just chirping because they already do? Fair play though, that's a nice motor.

If I insult anyone in these threads - surely not? - it's because they are folks I consider to be friends, & I was delighted to see three good friends book decent wins last night, the first being @LmfaoAllin who took the Main. I'm not sure if this was his biggest ever win, but if it was not, it was not far shy. He's a chef - proper chef, not your run-of-the-mill cook - & he plies his trade in Bristol, which I always consider to be Brunel kingdom. Bit of a dart player too, though he's not so hot in that department. Genuinely thrilled for you James, well done mate.
2nd was Tilting. The term "tilt" in poker drives me nuts, people say it almost as if they are proud that they can't keep calm when the road gets bumpy. If there were two words I'd remove from the poker lexicon they'd be "tilt" & "grinding". The poker world really is inhabited by some peculiar people. Disclaimer - this is not directed at Mr Tilting, who may just have a limp.
Mikey & PRhack93 squabbled over 3rd place, with Mikey getting the nod.

It's never easy to win the Mini, so hats off to kingy46 who took it down last night for the third time in two years. Kingy rules, right?
Waynelee broke his featured MTT duck on Monday, winning Mega, & nearly doubled his tally, finishing 4th here.
It's tough to make Mini finals two nights running, so big up to Toffeeandy, 6th on Monday, 5th last night.

Alexa, I want to win the Mega.
2nd was good old Whizzy, with Crushy 4th. I felt for Crushy last night, in one MTT he turned the nut flush & then..... the table froze. Ugh.
spearsy snuck into 6th place.

Summit went to mattprawn, & he was the 2nd of the 3 genuine friends of mine who won last night. I tend to call him boring - well he's an accountant - but he's a true mate who I'd trust to the end.
Cracking Final, including Crushy, roddy, Alexa & lolufold. I don't really know 5th placed wizardk, but maybe he's a hotshoe too.

And here's the third genuine friend who binked a win last night, the diminutive Mr Bates. Many a time I need a bit of help with a tricky question on the Forum & he rides to my rescue. He's not a big forum poster, but he's an avid reader, & in this day & age of such a variety of platforms, I guess that's all I can hope for in keeping the forum community alive. He sometimes likes to have a little chunter on the rare occasions when the usually immaculate Sky Poker software misbehaves, but I think we can forgive him that. Did you know he keeps chickens & ducks, & his dad is a keen bee-keeper? Who'd have thought.

Bit of advice - it’s gravy,not Jeux ( however it’s spelt ) 😉
On the plus side, played my first live game since Covid on Monday at Luton. All those bounty tournies came in handy for a win! (Also, having great cards at the right time helped)
@Jeni82
Wow, well done. How much did you get for 1st?
I never realised Poker Rooms still did self-deal.
My early years were at Gala Notts & a sort of spieler in Derby, but then I became a Luton regular for a decade or more, I really loved the Luton poker scene. We used to have self-deal in both Notts & Luton, crikey I could tell you some stories about dodgy dealing. And they say Online poker is rigged....
Anyway, I know it's been tough Online for you this year but you are up & running now & I shall be keeping an eye on your results going forward, VBOL.
Buy in was £45 ((£21 + £20 bounty + £4 rake)). Had 7 bounties for a total cash of £461. I was seen as a tight player which I suppose is rather different from how the sky poker regulars see me. Something about a drive back home when you bust that helped me tighten up
To be fair, 90% of Live Finals in those days ended up with a chop.
You keeping ok mate? "Straight & narrow" would be too much to expect, I fancy you enjoy a bumpy ride & the less-travelled roads, but I hope all is well.
Although I must say it was a little disconcerting to log in and read you saying something nice about me. Do hope you're ok.
@tomgoodun Yeah, well, you know, thats jus like, uh, your opinion, man.
Ps hope you and yours are all well.
@SR23 Aw shucks man, thanks. You're not so bad yourself.
Hope life is treating you well. Genuinely love your writing, you have such a talent.
Do hope it's not too long until your next challenge/blog/musings/choc choices/interesting turn spots.
The difference between a jus and a gravy is simple-it is about an extra £2.50 for the jus. Think of it as a tax on pretentiousness
Agree that SR23 is the best writer on here. Great use of language and story telling, coupled with a frisson of fear that he will say something both brilliant and spectacularly inappropriate...
They are really struggling to recruit dealers as nobody will work for minimum wage with such unsociable hours and the people that used to do it have gone back to their original countries.
Was some well dodgy dealing when I started playing live at the Maybury circa mid 2000s.
A work colleague who played there whispered in my ear that the dealer had a certain card eg ace of clubs and told me how he did it and also the other couple of people that did it.
Armed with that knowledge I then used that to my advantage when I saw them doing it and often trapped them as I knew one of their cards.
Why did I not report it? Well lets just say that these were very pleasant people but you wouldnt want to upset them
Nowadays I ask to cut the deck if I suspect any dodgy dealing.
