A Festive Music Quiz

EssexphilEssexphil Member Posts: 8,780
Don't be fooled-nothing really festive about it :)

I tend to have lists of music to play while I am playing poker. The one entitled (somewhat unimaginatively) "The Short List" is all my favourite tunes, listed alphabetically.

Number 11 is "Bad Romance" by Halestorm (much better than the Lady Gaga version, IMO). So-what are the 10 tunes that come before that?

Clue:-the singers/bands genres might loosely be classified as 5 Metal, 2 Punk, 1 Folk, 1 Disco, 1 Reggae.

Bonus trivia question: What is Jilted John to Ainsley Harriott?

Ok, not a big metal, punk or reggae fan , so, I’m going to go for either Staying alive or Dancing Queen for the disco and California dreaming or We’ve only just begun for the folk.

Clue:- Alphabetically, they have to begin before "Bad Romance" ;)

PS-I have precisely zero Carpenters songs. Not my thing, mostly. But she had a truly marvellous voice.

    Correct.

I believe she and Ainsley are separated, but still legally married.
So Jilted John (Graham Fellows) is Ainsley's brother-in-law.

    All wrong, I'm afraid.

Got Another Soldier and Bad Reputation, but didn't make the cut.

Albert Tatlock. Great song. Haven't heard it in years-off to find it.

It was the Skids. Seen them do it-they were great.

Saw Big Country in the 1990s-sure they were less dull in the 1980s...

No, sorry. Not a huge fan of Floyd. I prefer "Arnold Layne", but that's not there either.

No Metallica. In fact, none of the founding "big 4" of thrash (them, Megadeth, Anthrax, Slayer).

Unlucky with "Back in Black"-I'm thinking that should have been there...

Oh good that's saved me a few minutes, Megadeth were next on my radar.
