why?
couple of intended Pun's, two fold
(a)
Plethora of unknown unacknowledged Supreme Music of the Genre I have been in love with all my life.
If you get,that same undescribable 'adrenaline tingle' whatever your musical Genre of choice is,then you will understand,maybe? for example when you either discover or find a record that you have;
forgotten? never heard? or is decades old,for me it is musically extra special.
That happened randomly happened early this morning.
I play, listen to, enjoy 'searching' for musical gems, every day of my life, intend to until that very last 12 inch ever spins, pouring over inches thick medical documents this morning (because I have to)
In the background random shuffle stream non selected tunes from a Marc Ronson & a Bruno Marrs.
In my 'mad moment of musical disgust' pre occupied by a plethora of medical sh..e I am dealing with, went to my own musical library, found a tune I hadn't played in decades, had actually forgotten it,which in equal measure (for me) was annoyance (at forgetting it) joyous at rediscovering it
(to be able to share it) Thats what music & dj's should be about, non monies passion,to share & entertain, not withstanding the fundamental is promoting, song writers, singers, bands, which led to, an hours playing on repeat, plus a full hours worth of 'dad dancing' to the same rediscovered record. That specific subject,to go from an idea of a song/tune,to get it recorded, get a record company deal, etc, which is why, multiple artists, bands, record company PR reps, came a knocking, with white label promo's,we didnt, and they didnt expect play list Royalties, why? because verbatim mainstream radio was not, would not, play what so deserved playing,we got loads of unkowns airtime, promoted 'the music' direct,on the air and in the clubs.A few of us,took (and subsequently paid heavily) ridiculous risks,at the time,it felt worth it,with hindsight, that wonderful thing, those who deserved it,who were pure genuine and real, paid a very heavy price, only a hint, why for genuine reasons, got little respect for a few 'oldtime' (now) superstar dj's,a few,= Rancid (sorry, thats factual)
Most will probably not like it as much as myself, if you know the singer Matt Covington, I would be joyous, if not, you pays your musical monies and make your musical choices, Bruno Marrs, Marc Ronson or Matt Covington, to these time served 'dj' ears, this tune is Sensational (in fact you judge)it will go in as No 1 of a 1000, so it had better be a bit Special.
After this thread start, today (if allowed) most days will post a set of quad tunes only, zero rhetoric, and try to do 1 - 1000, on a press and play basis, 4 records should equal half an hour of blissful listening (majority of 12 inch records running 7 1/2 minutes) that's what used to do our radio stations noodles in, a 3 hour show only needs 25 individual records,3 hours less, news, less adverts, less promo breaks, yet some, that got given the chance, turned up with zero forethought, box of 200 records,'that will do' random picks etc.
If you have a very special person in your life, splash out the approx £100 to purchase this 12 inch promo record from 1983,wrap it, as a gift, little message, 'I have been meaning to tell you this for a while'
maybe even? that some poker blo-hard misterpj dj inspired it.
(b)
the 6max P's (8max for factual accuracy) 6max sounds better
Proper (properly correct thread title in the correct Forum place)
Positive (as in a genuine attempt, at a year long, Positive Forum Contribution)
Passionate (crystal clear, real as it's genuine,45 years ago 1st vinyl record purchase, after Grittar won the National)!
Ppropriate (this Genre of music lovers, in for a 2022 long treat)
Preparation (approx 45 years)
Pj 💖
I understand and respect every individuals personal musical tastes
For example,my same age tightest trusted buddy, his musical genre is hardcore Rock, nothing else, my musical genre is only what is stated in the title, defacto we as very tight pals, cannot stomach each others musical passion!
Meaning, if I am at his place, the music playing, is genuinely for me, impossible to listen to, and of course that's exactly in vice a versa for him
(in his case to borderline extremes!)
Which is 'odd' as his Mrs is from Jamaica, and the stuff I play sends my hardcore rock pals Mrs to musical Heaven!
Personally I do not buy into, opposites attract, fundamentally flawed, if one thinks it through?
Although those two definitely skew that opinion.
If, at the end of 2022 this music genre reignites a single forum members forgotten musical passion, job done.
Or ignites an unknown passion, job done, or inspires a forum member to purchase two turntables plus a little mixer and maybe start a vinyl record collection, job done,or take the first tentative steps into 'presenting & dj stuff', job done.
None of the above? then when anyone wants a half hour musical uplift, pick any single set of the quad sets posted.
(only 4 tunes per day) so will take a while to catologue1000.
Reference, only records rated 10/10 posted, got thousands rated 7,8,9 / 10,not posting them, just the Magical ones.
Music in Sport, nigh on all sports,is associated, Rugby, Cricket, Darts,Snooker,Football, Boxing, all Sking,Snowboarding, almost all sport (now) bar crown green bowling!
Why? it combines equal motivational magic with tribal association, note, will include a genuine well intentioned humerous year long attempt, for every forum poker player,to self select,or only be annointed their musical Poker Moniker by only TK,not myself.
Might be a Smidgeon of fun.
(by far my personal favorite Football)
not because they are my team, are you joking!
Tune The Dave Clark Five Glad All Over, which is a bit special in the Selhurst Park area.
One of many football related memories, was the entire weekend with what felt like being surrounded by all of Crystal Palace 'ultra's! Cardiff was jam packed all weekend, sensational atmosphere Millennium Stadium West Ham Palace play off final, feat Andy AJ Johnson Neil Shipperly a certain Michael Carrick, playing for West Ham,Palace went 1-0 up, straight away West Ham scored (screamer) disallowed! then Michael Carrick brought down and subbed off injured! nailed on penalty not given! That Palace song reverberating left right centre and what felt like out of every motor on the long drive home.
Only for reference! my then Mrs hardcore Palace fan,her family, season ticket holders, watched Palace Sunderland leg 1 from Canary Islands, 3-2 Palace Andy Johnson scoring the winner, and his 32nd goal that season.
Followed an unplanned rather expensive 'sortie'
Canary Islands > London > Sunderland > Cardiff > London > Canary Islands.
The one thing I do agree with a certain Mr Harry Findlay about, that memories are priceless especially when funded by a decent punting tickle, even if subsequent unsuccesful punting attempts ended up costing x ten the origenal cost!
Leg 2 at Sunderland was crazy, Sunderland 2-0 up Palace down to 10 players, last seconds of 90 minutes Palace score from a corner, aggregate final score 4-4.Extra time with 10 men went 0-0, penalty shoot out for a play off final place.
Palace won 5-4 on pens with 10 men after aggregate scores 4-4.
And on to Cardiff, amazing weekend, 18 blinking years ago.
Glad All Over etched deep in the memory bank.
Just for a remenise and any Palace fans,3 minutes of that day, and The Dave Clark Five Glad All Over.
January 2022 today West Ham Utd under Mr David Moyes going rather well, sitting a phenomenal 4th in the Prem,Crystal Palace under Patrick Vieria punching well above their weight 12th 2 points off 10th.

Very sad to hear yesterday of the passing of Ronnie Spector. Accounts of her time with Phil Spector are mind-boggling, & included in her Wiki page.
Be interested to hear your thought on both Ronnie & Phil.

anecdotal;
Paris I Choose You
the record label,Bluebird Records, which was one of London's most iconic specialist record shops with its own label,Bluebird records the original record shop was located Church Street Paddington Green
had to chuckle when I noticed this comment !
John Buss quote
(ps my spelling /grammar self acknowledged awful) but I try
Mr Buss ten times worse than I,so tried to correct spelling & grammar
written "3 years ago" reference the below re 1984
And there was a race on to who would get this on their label first...
Bluebird verse Pete Tong...(lol x 10)
Yes Bluebird won and apparently Pete Tong was very ##~~ off about losing out.
"So Pete and Bluebird had a bitter friendship" Mr John Buss words...
misterpj's facts
Mr Tong applied for & got an A&R managers job at London records 1984
his own record label ! (then)?! No,no no no lol !
Tramshed Woolwich very decent Altern music venue
George O'dowd from Eltham Boy George Culture Club,a certain 'supasta' dj.. Lol
Jan Akkerman She's So Divine (1979)
ask the majority of 'dj's,do you know the song She's So Divine ?
if they say yes, fair bet the majority are thinking The Limit Shes So Divine
Which is fine, thing is that released 82,the Jan Akkerman version 79 is in another musical Cosmos, both out of Holland.in pj's language, different class. You can pick up an authentic Jan Akkerman 7 inch single today for pennies, buy one.
mid 80's,in Japan / Asia, this genre was bubbling, any competent UK dj could have made their fortune by the end of the 90's opening a music bar /club out that way (several did)
Hideki Saijo Through The Night (off the 1984 Japanese promo album Gentle A Man) is a brilliant underground record (promo album to boot)
as told before,Horizon Fm London (pirate) owned & ran out of Camberwell by Chris (dj name) Stewart, real name Chris Bollingbrook,Chris happened to be best pals with a fella called Paul, the music world knows as Paul Hardcastle, you may have heard of the fella? they were tight pals before Chris became a dj & radio station owner, and Paul became,an artist in his own right, pre that listed as 'engineer' on,for example Direct Drive Anything (1984)
Paul's iconic song is "N-n-n-n-nineteen"
Here is a bit form wiki;
His previous 2 singles for independent labels had failed to make it into the UK's top 40 and the musical policy at Radio 1 was felt to be unsupportive of dance music.News interest in the song helped, with the tenth anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War seeing Hardcastle interviewed by Alastair Stewart of ITN.
Tony Blackburn, breakfast DJ for Radio London an early supporter! of the song (we played them relentlessly, sometimes mainstream jumped on for the ride)
and it quickly reached number 1 in the UK and most of the world.
Hardcastle produced different mixes of the song to help maintain interest.
Although the song did not climb as high in the United States chart, Hardcastle claims "it outsold everybody else for three weeks solid" it did! but only reached number 15, because back then the chart was based on airplay as well as sales.
The song was held back in the US by radio stations refusing to play it, feeling that the song took an anti-American stance, something Hardcastle denies.
he "had tons of letters from Vietnam vets thanking me for doing it for them"
The truth,London pirate stations Horizon & LWR relentlessly played this for Paul,an iconic tune.
The song's reliance on sampling also caused problems with legal clearance!
especially the lyric;the average age was 19
Ken Grunbaum, in 2012 "there were no precedents for something like this"
only about 30 years late,Ken.
We ended up having to pay royalties to the narrator, Peter Thomas.
First Love It's A Mystery rare underground monster tune
Active Force Give Me Your Love sensational
You Did It Again 2012 yep it's a sample, simply superb
Finally, the Cosmos Music God's gave pj a fillip, exactly 24 hours ago
On my Girls lives, exactly (and as briefly as happened)
Way way back, like 46 years ago + off the same little naughty tight nit Manor SE9
knew a gorgeous same age girl, Emma, who was bang into 'the music'
46 years on Emma still drop gorgeous, frontline A&E nurse + family & children
Last saw Emma 6 years ago (until 24 hours ago) had zero idea I was about to.
Did an ASAP shop run, outside said shop, stood a stunning tall women, with what was obviously a puppy on lead,a beautiful little male boxer dog,in this part of Kent, then & now, total white out, thick fog, blinking freezing, made huge fuss of boxer dog, thought zero about it, enter shop,to my surprise & delight, locked eyes with a gorgeous women at checkout 'paul' 'emm' shock, happy, genuine, Emna to me, come see my daughter & my 2 month old puppy!
Well, wow, followed at least an hours spontaneous convo,in freezing temps, hadn't seen Emma's daughter in 6 years, time flies, and boy do children grow up fast.
the kicker? Emma asked me to guess the puppies name (she knows me & music all the way back) when she told me Kano, after the funk band, twas my 7th Heaven moment of happiness, there are a few of us old school music junkies, not just me
Miss Emna, you & daughter & puppy Kano, made my day, defacto;
the brilliant Kano Can't Hold Back Your Loving in at No20!

Generic all time top ten records ever, not even officially in my list.
But, I respectfully propose for consideration as the Forums Anthem tune?
Brilliant tune, which the 1982 7 inch single was released as the single off the album title track of the same name, vinyl prices are from pennies to thousands, defacto you may have noticed over the last two decades small ads everywhere (when the public perceived notion was not worth pennies)
'wanted' records,anything considered
singles, albums, 7 inch 12 inch, cash paid yada yada.
For those in the know, it been like the Gold Rush.Charity shops, car boot sales
I have seen thousands of pounds worth of vinyl bought for flumpence.
Example,to this very day, one of my tightest friends, currently in Jamaica trying to finish building his retirement home, and a neighbour when in the UK is the unique legend Rasta Man Mr Bertie Herbert Grant UB40 fame, even though he from Birmingham and still has family up their,Bertie lives in (now) Kent, frequently Jamaica, and sadly no longer Railton Road Brixton where due to Covid, his Iconic little shop, is no more.Bertie knows music,Bertie bought vinyl in the full literal sense by the Mercedes Sprinter load, those 7 & 12 inch gems, are out their, some values, market prices Global Collectors willing to pay, are staggering.
Mr Rasta Man Grant still a unique legend, fit as a butchers dog, rocks his dreads, and posseses that beautiful natural real Jamaican pattoise, proper funny fella is Bertie, told me back from Jamaica springtime, when he has spare time, the fella is a genius Millers Guide esq antique dealer, you may have seen Bertie on tv, doing an almighty flirt with Catherine Southon Bargain Hunt et al
(she lives down the road and always shopping local!) really lovely real life lady.
Anyways! pj still popping with anesthetic so forgive.
Forum Anthem Candidate and one of my top 10 all time fav tunes, and the single available for 20p!

Not sure if this pic shows? Magpies nest @ bottom butterfly.
