As usual with me & my litany of excuses, I'm struggling for time today. What's new?
I do have the chip counts, but not in easily posted or legible form, so I'm going to simply post what I have been given. If anyone feels public-spirited & able to decipher them, they are of course welcome to turn them into a legible, typed list.
You may note there are two "Razavi's" in the list. As it happens, they are both cousins of Sam Razavi, who many of you will know of. For balance, Sam, who is a true friend & I love to bits, has 27 cousins living in Brighton.
I have to say, it would be most pleasing if the gentleman named Kartik Kartik made the final. We could have some fun with that when the proper update starts on Sunday.
Ms Deborah Worsley Roberts is a vey accomplished player indeed, & was 2nd in the last SPT held here in August 2019, for some £11,260.
She is an American by birth & still has a very strong accent.
She is credited with being the individual who helped send the makers of Loud Hailers into bankruptcy. Fair to say, when she is in the room everyone knows, no matter how far away they are or how big the room is. Perfectly pleasant in every other respect.
After a 'relaxing' five hour drive I am finally here in Brighton. Considering what it was like at SPT Manchester, would it be prudent to get there say an hour or more prior to play commencing?

Many Thanks, Chris.
Hi Chris,
yes, it would be prudent to get there early and register otherwise you would be placed on an alternates list- at Manchester there were so many alternates that some never had the chance to play

When at SPT's in Brighton, I always stay at a quiet little hotel deep in the countryside, some 12 miles from Brighton. It's adjacent Hickstead Show Jumping arena, as the name implies. I must say, they make quite a fuss of me when I arrive, as you can see. Don't get that at a Travelodge.
Cheers both. Aye, I remember Manchester and am keen to avoid that. I'm sort of done with driving for a little while, so I booked an Airbnb within walking distance from the casino 😊

@karlluke
Too soon, way too soon.

Morning.
Day 1A had 192 entries, so that's £38,400 in the kitty so far. The guarantee is £50,000, so that will be handsomely exceeded.
I am told that 42 survived the day, but I could only see 41, not that it matters awfully I suppose.
You may note there are two "Razavi's" in the list. As it happens, they are both cousins of Sam Razavi, who many of you will know of. For balance, Sam, who is a true friend & I love to bits, has 27 cousins living in Brighton.

There are definitely 42 names on there:- 8+8+7+10+9= 42.
Congrats to everyone who has made it through to Day 2
You'll also spot Eamonn Gilroy (Palace Bloke) & Danny Grogan (FeelGroggy).

Indeed. Time to order some new spectacles.
After a 'relaxing' five hour drive I am finally here in Brighton. Considering what it was like at SPT Manchester, would it be prudent to get there say an hour or more prior to play commencing?
Many Thanks, Chris.

Definitely. Play commences at 2pm, & I would suggest arriving an hour early would likely be very wise.
First job when you arrive must be to register at the Tournament Desk, which is on the right hand side of the cardroom.
Once that's done you are "in".
See you later.
If you are not familiar with the venue, there is a free multi-storey car park right opposite, literally 50 yards away.
The venue in fact has it's own free car park, right in front of the Casino, but it does tend to fill up quite quickly.
The weather is gorgeous, so the town is packed & traffic is a bit sticky.
