Okay so just needed to double check that the promo page says that for Friday the play concludes at 1am saturday

and for the saturday the play concludes at 11pm

you have mentioned times an hour later and approx.

I am not worried about Sunday, every day it is realistic to expect to bust before play concludes In which case I just go then. However always have to be optimistic and plan for the best. For Sunday if I am still there at the end I have won several grand so can Justify a Taxi if need be so no need to worry about the Sunday.

for the Friday and Sat I am assuming play concludes times are guidelines only then so I could mis last transport options potentially?

The times given are approximate only. In theory the timed on the Promo Page are accurate. In practice, it's best to add an hour as sometimes breaks get extended, play starts late, the colour-up takes longer than expected, etc etc. And when play DOES finish on Friday & Saturday, everyone has to "bag up" which can be a lengthy process sometimes. Bagging up itself can take 30 minutes if you are the last one the Dealer sorts out on your table. (Usually done in seat order).

    REMINDER

4 seats is the maximum you can win. Any seats over & above 4 are NOT paid in cash or carried forward.

    T & C # 4 states;

    3. Each player is eligible to win up to a maximum of 4 seats for SPT Manchester. These can be used for Day 1a and Day 1b at a maximum of 2 per day.

    WHERE IS EVERYONE ?

I was the only one registered to play tonight's SPT Quarter-Final at 8.25pm, before it cancelled :/

They can't ALL be watching HEARTS v ZURICH surely :D

Is anyone else going to SPT Manchester thru the sat's? .......or is everyone buying in direct?

I have reluctantly decided to miss this one. This is the main reason:-

    https://www.avantiwestcoast.co.uk/travel-information/plan-your-journey/timetables

At the minute, I cannot book a train to Manchester. There is only 1 train an hour from London to Manchester, instead of the usual 4. And they are not yet accepting bookings.

Nothing to do with the strikes (although that might also come into play)-Avanti don't have enough drivers.

This may be resolved in time. But Avanti think it likely that all discounted fares from London to Manchester will be unavailable. Which would make my train fare £182.10. Add that to the rising costs of hotels, the need to pay extra for the ability to cancel, etc. I can't financially justify forking out an extra £400 (hotel/train, before alcohol) to buy in to a £200 Tournament.

Which is a shame. Because I enjoy SPTs more than any other tournament.

This may be my fault posting that I will not be direct registering into this anymore. Causing players to realise one of the soft spots has gone.

such great value in these games especially the quarter and semi.

Without the 3 qualifiers from the Quarter, it was always going to struggle. I won the last ALL-IN,, but sadly the Tourney cancelled as it registered me

Would have been excellent value :/

.........At least I've got the £48 to buy in another night :)

As with the Sunday Major............ I'd much rather have the extra seat requiring an extra player, and occasionally have the Semi cancel. Love <3 the VALUE

Almost 3 weeks into this promotion and i still cannot understand whether Sky Poker want to send more players to these live events or not.

Quick review of the satellites so far, from what i remember these are similar to the last time this was run.

Frenzy, has run a good few times and should have its place in the list as it serves a purpose for some

    Micro to Qtr A necessity

Micro Ran Twice in 57 posted games.

All ins again serve a purpose but often under subscribed

    Quarter and Semi .obviously needed

There is absolutely no question that Sky Poker back this, that can be seen in the fact that there has been circa £4k in added value put into these satellites already with overlay.

But that does not answer the question of whether they actually want to send players to the live event and what are the reasons for this?

Could be oversubscribed... Get a bigger Venue or add a day 1

Changing the rewards freeroll to include seats, i.e 3 to the £48 semi and 34 to the £10.50 Quarter +£500 payout instead of the £1K. Thus forcing players to play them.

But then players will say they cannot attend... I suspect there is very little admin involved in allowing playing to switch venue for the SPT, or put a note in the terms saying the seat ticket has a cash valve of £100 until redeemed for full value at the casino.

Getting more players into the quarter... This has to be key to the satellite strategy, is it not possible to run 3 or 4 £1+05 all in where 1 in 10 win a Quarter seat or £0.55+.05 if 1 in 10 is not possible via the software. must be worth trying it cannot have much effect on the lower buy in sats as they are all but dead anyway.

Maybe players like the added value, increasing the field size and therefore the amount of seats on offer also by definition increases anyones chance of winning a seat.

OR MAYBE WITH YEARS OF STATISTICS AND ANALYSIS OF PLAYERS, SKY POKER HAVE DEEMED THAT THE PLAYER POOL IS NOT DEEP ENOUGH TO FEED MORE THROUGH, WHICH IS PROBABLY THE CASE.
But then the promo period could always be shortened

Interesting to hear the views of others.

putting 34 freerollers into the quarters each day would be amazing

My point exactly, not to mention the 3 sat waiting in the semi. There must be something i am missing here. UKOPS tickets are done this way.

It would actually wake people up to the fact that they could qualify and some may try the other options too.

Not 1 person has commented on this. To my mind, this is a significant problem. My quoted fare to Manchester remains at £182.10. The only progress is that the Avanti West Coast boss has now quit.

The 1 inaccuracy in that article. Train services London-Manchester have been cut by 75%.

I look forward to attending future SPTs, once the Railways can be bothered running trains.

Didn't you get offered the door to door Limo service for high rollers like we did?

@Essexphil you do have a very valid point on travel and i guess this plays into my question above somewhat.
However would you be more inclined to fork out for the above (alcohol is not a necessity) if you were able to win your seat essentially for nothing.

Maybe the seats should be won similarly to vegas with accommodation and a contribution to travel.

You are giving sky more admin with sorting out accommodation.

What if you are local to the venue?

How does it work with winning multiple seats?

For many years, I have felt that the £220 price point was ideal. However, the recent rapid rise in hotel prices, coupled with the now (hopefully temporary) spike in train fares is making this look outdated.

It may be that the price point will have to move to (say) a £330/£75k guarantee, purely because of the impact upon increased incidental expenditure.

Alcohol is, of course, not a necessity. But (for me at least) it is part of what makes an SPT far more enjoyable than other tours. It is far more of a social occasion than other Tours.

On a slightly separate issue. Surely 1 of the annual SPTs should be an online 1...

I booked a train from London after your original post, for £103 open return. Seems reasonable. Shame you can’t make it.

I think it depends on how you look at the event. I doubt many players are profitable (when allowing for expenses) in a £220 event if you need to travel for it and stay in a hotel. I think lots of the SPT players would see the £220 as part of the cost so increasing the buy in could price people out of the event.
