    Jeremy Hunt is the replacement.
    4th Chancellor this year.

Her position is surely now untenable.
Jeremy Hunt has come out this morning and backtracked on just about everything she stood for in the leadership campaign.
What he now intends to implement sounds more like Rishi Sunaks plan.
Tax increases, and spending cuts will not be popular.
    Where can she go?

And she is now obliged to AGREE with what her Chancellor is doing.

    It's a completely impossible position.

Anyone with a shred of decency or honour, or even intelligence, would snap resign, but she won't, she'll be like Boris & desperately cling to power as long as she can.

The UK political system is broken beyond repair.

It is not broken beyond repair. But it does need fixing. To protect democracy from politicians who ignore it.

Rightly or wrongly, but most importantly democratically, Boris Johnson was elected by the UK electorate on a particular manifesto.

Liz Truss was not elected by the electorate to be PM. Just by a tiny fraction of the electorate. On a manifesto that was totally different from that the Public had voted for. And on one that the majority of Tory MPs had voted against (until magically swapping sides once the Tory faithful voted for the White Lady supposedly bearing gifts).

The solution is very simple. If the duly elected PM is replaced mid-term, then a General Election should always be considered. And, if the new PM has a radically different Agenda, a General Election should be Mandatory.

Either stick to the policies and/or PM that people voted for. Or call an Election. Simple as.

Because that should be the way to protect Democracy. From the Rabid Right. Or the Loony Left.

    To reinforce my above comment.

In a supposed Democratic Country, 357 Tory MPs are considering when and how to replace the PM the public has not voted for, on an agenda the public has not voted for.

With another PM the public has not voted for. On another agenda the public has not voted for.

It's just insulting to all of us.

    I agree.
Although the current problem is that the very last thing the Tories want is a general election anytime soon.
So that just leaves us with an incompetent PM.

I am not sure of how she can be removed.
She is supposed to be safe for 12 months, although I appreciate the 1922 can change the rules.
Having no government again while they conduct another leadership campaign, would not be ideal, particularly in the current economic climate.
Tory MPs are unlikely to support Labour in a no confidence vote against the government, that is likely to leave them unemployed.
    Not sure where we go.

A valid point. People preferred Johnson to Corbyn. Give me a shyster over a Corbyn any day of the week.

But now the Conservatives have totally changed course. As have Labour.

It is any Opposition's right to change course. Because their previous position was rejected, and they need to rethink and come up with something electable in the future.

But not the people and policies we did vote for.

Imagine if we had voted for Corbyn. And he had been replaced with Starmer. And now the Party were considering replacing him with McDonnell as PM. All on totally different policies. All without consulting the Public or holding an election.

Jeremy Hunt will issue a written statement later this morning, & address Parliament at 3.30 this afternoon to make an "Emergency Statement".

Journalists, of course, have already been briefed, & it seems like there will be almost nothing left of the Mini Budget announced by Truss & Kwarteng recently.

I have no idea how Ms Truss has the gall to try to cling to power. She will though.

I've seen a WhatsApp message setting out the future Tory leadership - and the brutality of it is shocking

Last night I was sent a single WhatsApp message from a prominent member of the 2019 intake of Tory MPs. The message said: “Rishi PM. Hunt CX. Penny FS. And it’s a done deal.”

The brutality of that statement is shocking. Two weeks ago people dismissed Home Secretary Suella Braverman's remark that there was a “coup” underway to push Liz Truss out of office. Well, they aren't now.
