Who Wins The League ?

lucy4lucy4 Member Posts: 7,937
As a Gooner I obviously want Arsenal to win the league but I'm still not convinced (yet). To me their League position is a bit false as the fixture list has been favourable to us so far this season. I've checked our remaining fixtures and points are certainly gonna be dropped. I can't see City dropping many,if any points and they're certainly capable of going unbeaten in their games.

Arsenal Fixtures.
Liverpool,West Ham,Southampton,Man City,Chelsea,Newcastle,Brighton,Forest & Wolves.

Man City Fixtures.
Southampton,Leicester,Arsenal,Fulham,West Ham,Leeds,Everton,Chelsea,Brentford & Brighton to be arranged.

I have City to win the League by 2 points but if Arsenal can get something out of the Liverpool,City & Newcastle games then everything changes. Arsenal are currently favourites but that can change depending on the Liverpool game on Sunday. Current best odds are Arsenal 8/11 & City 11/10.

While I'll be hoping for an Arsenal League Title come May, I've placed a bet on City if they do prevail. Naturally I would rather win the League than the bet. Am I wrong in betting against my team? But I see it as being a little insurance if things do go wrong.

    This is a common dilemma.
Everton have been sh...ocking for a while and I can't believe how generous some of the opposition's odds have been occasionally.
I've been very tempted but 99% of the time resisted.
You might go with the no lose situation that either you win £60 or Arsenal win the league.
I would probably think I could have saved myself £50 if Arsenal do win, and the £60 profit won't be much consolation if City win.
Maybe that's because I'm a pessimist when it comes to football.

At the end of the day, you really shouldn't back against your team.

Think it is a good bet.

True to say Arsenal have the tougher run in. also true to say that Arsenal have more points on the board, and are actually playing better than City at the moment.

Think it is a 50/50 call-a month ago, I thought City were massive favourites. Also if City beat Bayern Munich, think they may concentrate more on trying to win the Champions League.

After the City game today they've now gone in to Evens, prices will surely change during or after tomorrows game.

I might add that the £50 bet that I placed on City is a freeroll as it's money I've won during the season.

After the weekend games City are now 8/11 Favs with Arsenal out to 11/10. Due to City's CL and F.A CUP fixtures they only play 1 PL game (Leicester) while Arsenal play West Ham & Southampton before the City v Arsenal game on the 26th. Realistically Arsenal will need to take maximum points from their 2 games to go into the City game 9 points clear and IF we can get a point from that game, then the title SHOULD be in our hands.

If Man City win their remaining 9 league games, that would mean a 14 game winning run and you just have to give it to them.

However, if they lose just one match, the maximum points they can get is 91.

Arsenal can lose another + draw another and still end up with 92 pts.

One should never have qualms about betting against your own team 😂.

It's 'inside' information! I've had a decent bet on the tricky trees being relegated which unfortunately has 'copped' before 😢

After the weekend games City are now clear favourites to win the title and Arsenal's Friday night game against Southampton is a must win if they wanna keep any pressure on City.

Odds on Arsenal look big to me. I think City are only slight favourites

Oh well tonight didn't exactly go to plan but we've only gotta go to City and beat them to put it back in our own hands, on the plus side it's good to have a special day back after a long absence...

I really can't see City letting the title slip now after Arsenal's last two games of dropping points.
