Channel 4 & Walter Presents land Global Screen drama trio for UK & North America
Channel 4 and Walter Presents in the UK have picked up Global Screen dramas Hostage, The Palace and The New Front, with two of the series also set to become available in North America.
Swedish six-part thriller Hostage, which has been created by Karin Fahlén and produced by Kärnfilm, explores a plane hijack and has been written by Rodica Doehnert.
The Palace tracks two estranged sisters’ lives in 1980’s Berlin and is from Constantin Television for Germany’s ZDF, while crime thriller The New Front (fka Westwall) has been created by Isa Prahl and was produced by Gaumont Germany for ZDF. The 6 x 45-minute miniseries explores a right-wing extremist group.
All three series will become available on Walter Presents and Channel 4, while Hostage and The Palace will also be exclusively available on the streamer in the US and Canada.
Klaus Rasmussen, co-head of acquisitions and sales at Global Screen, said: “The New Front and Hostage are real edge-of-your-seat thrillers and The Palace, set against the backdrop of Berlin’s great review theatre in a divided Germany, is a moving, exhilarating and life-affirming story. We are certain these incredible series will have strong appeal to viewers.”
Hostage Sweden Full run on More 4 starting Friday 16 August with a double episode from 9pm Ambitious and smart Fredrika Bergman, who works at the Ministry of Justice, is seconded into a fast-developing situation involving the remotely controlled hijacking of a plane flying from Sweden to the US.
The trailer for Hostage looked good, and was in English.
8 Episodes, I'm on Episode 5, can't recommend it highly enough. The ones I've seen are Iraq, Bosnia, Rwanda, Kosovo, Darfur, and I've still to watch the Libya & two Syria Episodes. Not an easy watch....
It seemed as though, If the Americans didnt get involved, nobody did. They never had a plan for after they had left.
