Me too, huge fan of Knopfler. Saw Dire Straits many times "live" in the late 70's & early eighties, most memorably at the old Wembley Empire Pool. Great memories.

I have some memories too. The first time I heard of Dire Straits was when I was working for Corals in Warrington. I was sharing a house in Widnes with a Scottish gentleman. Being a Scot he was fond of a bargain. Once Saturday he came home with 2 albums that he had bought from the reduced section in the local record shop. He was obviously a good judge, as one was by Dire Straits, the other was by Billy Joel. It wasnt that long long after that Princess Diana came out as a fan, and their albums would never, ever be reduced again. I became a fan instantly.
When I came back to Swansea the only place to go on a Sunday night was the Bay View. We used to go every week. It was jam packed every week. Its all changed now, Wetherspoons bought it. They had the same DJ for years. He was a big fan. The last track he played every Sunday was Romeo and Juliet. It became one of my favourites.
Their drummer for many years, Terry Williams, was from Swansea.

Sorry, I wont post any more.
Well at least for a bit.

Very good indeed. You have to wonder why he resorts to busking, surely he could earn a decent living as a band member or sidey?
