Nope, not even advised me what the % is. In theory then, presumably, it could be any amount.

Could turn out to be a few quid if you are staying for 3 or 4 nights, have a bit of breakfast, room service, etc.
Tips should surely be voluntary, and depend on good service.
Plenty of restaurants do this, but I have not heard of a hotel doing it before.

mind you in manchester our friends dog keeps getting excited in the wrong way to see me, and I feel uncomfortable round that dog. Its not that the dog appears gay I mean gay isnt my thing but you know nothing against that if a guy makes a pass at me I just politely reject well I have a girlfriend so I guess if anyone makes a pass at me I politely reject.
Just its kind of creepy when they are not of the same species.
anyway I think once you factor in a hotel it gets very expensive I am assuming sky pay for your hotel but it would normally cost over £200 a night? so £600 for the three days.
A lot of actuary jobs are based in Salford which apprently is near Manchester so maybe thats commutable if I get one of those jobs.

My hotel is "Hickstead Hotel", which is actually 12 miles north of Brighton, so I drive back & forth each day. The hotel is out in the countryside, has a fishing lake, herons, owls, all sorts & is beautifully peaceful. A nearby golf course or two too, but I'm not golfing this weekend. The drive to & from the Casino is lovely too, a few miles down the dual carriageway A23, along the dualled A27 until Brighton's "Amex Stadium" at Falmer, along the top of the South Downs, then cross over Brighton Racecourse & drive steeply downhill to the seafront & those magnificent Brighton cliffs. I get me a Costa coffee for the drive & it's just a lovely, peaceful half an hour, a rare chance for me to completely relax.
The room rate for my hotel is £130 per night including breakfast, so 4 x £130 = £520. (This is excluding any tip...). Quite reasonable, all things considered.

Someone clearly failed to "read the room". Probably introduced by a newly-hired Uni Graduate with an IQ of 200 but no "real life" experience. It's colossal PR disaster to have introduced that.
They say all gratuities go straight to the Staff, but somehow I'm not sure I buy that, I bet there's a deduction.
Yes, I always tip too (assuming OK servce) & I tip quite generously.
But I'd NEVER tip if it were mandatory, & someone said "you are obliged to tip".
FWIW, in Vegas, many places automatically add a tip & call it a "Service Charge" so you can't get round it. It's like "Resort Fees" in Vegas Hotels, forget the name, it's just a disguised way of upping the Room Rate.
The Resort Fee at The Wynn this year is $55 per night - that's on top of the room rate. And Tax is on top of those.
Was OK, I just worded them in advance that I'd not be paying for a tip.
Bit weird really, I've never given tips in hotels. Taxis, restaurants etc, yes, no problem, but not Hotels. The exception is the "Maid", I always leave them a good tip.
