I've never been asked to do jury service, I suspect asking if the death penalty is a possibility in the case you are sitting on would be a good way of getting out of it.
Also my father, at the time a serving police officer, used to say that if they ended up in court they were 99% likely to be guilty, but proving it was the problem. I guess stating that you also held that belief might help you avoid serving on a jury.
I think that being on a jury in a case where somebody may lose their liberty for a long time ranks as one of my worst nightmares. The thought that I may either help to send somebody who is innocent away, or equally free a guilty person, is one of the few things that would worry me.
In America it must be awful, as sentences there are usually much harsher. To actually have that power over someone's next 20 / 30 / 40 or even 50+ years is a responsibility that frightens me and if I'm honest one I wouldn't want.
The really worrying aspect is that here we have an ex-President - & maybe a future President - who is completely disrespecting the judiciary & legal system. Life being what it is, his followers & maybe others will now do the same. If an ex/future President can defy it, so can we.
The man is deranged & very very dangerous.
Oh, & just for comedy, Nigel Farage has pledged his support to Trump. That'll sure help him.
Meanwhile, the man who calls Joe Biden "corrupt" has just been found guilty of 34 charges involving corruption & dishonesty, over a proven affair with a prostitute.
When they tell you Trump was convicted of campaign finance crimes, ask then why the judge blocked the Chairman of the FEC from testifying in Trumps defense.

p.s. I am not that old, but I am high mileage.
Trump was guilty of a coverup.
Stormy was guilty not covering up.

If Trump wins the election, there will be a criminal running a country who is the symbolic head of the Judicial system.
Trump JR says this verdict makes the USA a third world country, he has a point. Although its Trumps shenanigans that caused this.
