We bought in Qawra because that was an ideal place. I love Malta and was happy to use that.
We didn't exchange but we did opt to take a rental that were sometimes available on a one off at places like Anfi Beach Club on Gran Canaria.
It was quite funny when we used to get approached by people trying to get us to go to a presentation. We'd attend, inform the sales people what we had, what we paid for it and what weeks we had and challenge them to find us better.
We were usually politely ushered out within 15 minutes carrying our free wine, day passes and whatever else was on offer.

I used to laugh at the way they jumped up in the air when you won on their scratchcards. Everybody won. There were no losing tickets.

Lots of people that have never been involved in timeshare dont actually get it.
Most people get involved to use the exchange system. Back in the day RCI were offering 3,800 resorts in more than 95 countries for exchange. Although the company I worked for switched to Interval International. They offered some household names for exchange, like Disney, and Marriott. So for instance, to access a holiday for 6 or 8 people at a Disney or Marriott resort, for the payment of a maintenance fee, small exchange fee, plus flights, will represent excellent value for money. I quoted a Marriott example earlier, which I actually booked, a number of times. As this holiday was for eight people, if you took some friends or family, and charged them nothing, your savings would be well over £2k. No surcharges for under occupancy. Our prices for a timeshare were around £6k, back in the day. So three of these holidays and you would have recouped your investment. You could continue to do this each year while you owned your timeshare. Your only additional costs over your initial investment, would be your travel, maintenance fees, and a small exchange fee, which was around £100 per party, back in the day.
I had some really good holidays over the years. Which included Marriotts in Spain twice, Vegas twice, and Aruba three times. Others in the Cayman Islands, and Antigua. Probably the best one was one Christmas we spent a week at the Marriott in Vegas, and went on to Mexico for another two weeks.
Going back a few years, when the Sky Poker Vegas package was different, I booked the accommodation for 6 Sky Poker guys. I picked up the exchange fee, and they got it free.
Timeshare will never suit people that are happy with cheap holidays. It will always suit those that are looking for quality holidays, at reasonable prices.
Package holidays were always pot luck, and I have been on a few.
I have enclosed some photos below of a Marriott sleep 8, they probably dont do it justice, but it will give people an idea of the quality and the space, and they are all exactly the same in every Marriott. They alone have 400,000 owners, and it is easy to see why.
Here you go, I found some rental prices. These prices are for a 2 bed, rather than a 3 bedroom, which I have booked. The same timeshare exchange fee would apply to either. The photo shown is exactly the same.

Anfi was really nice, as well.
