    Rosie Duffield.

    https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/voices-good-riddance-to-rosie-duffield-she-was-never-a-good-fit-for-labour/ar-AA1rq5bS?ocid=BingNewsSerp

A strange woman. The first noteworthy thing she did as an MP was appear at a rally saying that Labour were antisemitic and should be shut down.

Then there was her campaign to get Grammar schools abolished. While at the same time sending both of her kids to a Grammar school.

Her real opinion on things like the Winter fuel payment and the benefit cap? She abstained on both issues. Because, for people like Rosie Duffield, getting maximum media coverage for her is far more important than any cause she pretends to believe in.

She blames Starmer for "hypocrisy". While having 3 months ago accepted the mandate from the voters of Canterbury to sit as a Labour MP. But she will take the money rather than ask the voters whether they really voted for her to be an Independent.

High time the Law was changed. If someone was elected to sit for a Party-any Party-they should only be allowed to voluntarily change if they agree to a By-Election.

You have to question why that was not the case already.
Rosie who in a couple of months.
I do think Starmer and Labour were ill advised on the freebies, and could have found a better way of stopping the Winter fuel allowance.

‘She shouts very loudly’: opinion on Rosie Duffield divided in her constituency

So-Starmer is finally making the sort of concessions on freebies he should have made from the outset.

Here's a thought on Winter Fuel Allowance.

We all know that plenty of people (particularly pensioners) who could be claiming the relevant benefits do not. So why not give (say) a 3 month deadline for Pensioners to apply for those Benefits and (if successful) the Allowance would then be backdated?

There will be some people who definitely need the Winter fuel allowance that will continue to receive it.
Others that dont need it that wont.
However some will miss out that could probably do with it.
Why wouldnt they just set a household income limit on those able to claim it, and just means test the claims.
I am not sure what the net gain of this policy will be after they have tried to convince the 800,000 that were entitled to pension credit, but were not claiming it, to make a claim.

As far as Mr Starmer is concerned giving stuff back will probably be considered as proof that you shouldnt have taken it in the first place.
I am not sure if new rules are required, maybe just common sense.
I dont think he is a bad man, just made a few bad decisions.

I don't think he is a bad man.

Fact remains that he made a rod for his own back.

Came in with the sanctimonious ideas about "we serve you". Supposedly bringing back "service". As though he is better than everyone-not just the likes of Boris Johnson.

Then got caught helping himself at the "self service" till.

Not difficult being better than Johnson or Truss.

Not difficult being more effective than May or Sunak.

But he is showing, at least initially, that (IMHO) he takes too long to make adjustments when necessary
