It is incredible really. There seems to be a long queue of them prepared to come out and criticise Labour for not sorting stuff out in 6 weeks, that they failed to resolve in 14 years. Astonishing. I also need to be convinced that they do really care more about those that drown in the channel, than the numbers that make it ashore.
The Winter Fuel Payment as such has not been scrapped. The only people who will forfeit it are those who can afford to manage without it.
It's tremendous that those less well off get a bit of help, I'm all for that, but a lot of OAP's are actually comparatively well off & can comfortable live well within their means. There's no reason for people like that to receive it, none at all.

I suppose that many pensioners are better off now, than they have been for quite some time. Energy bills have dropped substantially, inflation seems back under control, and very close to the 2% target, two sizeable increases to the state pension over the last 2 years, and those with savings can actually get some interest on them. Some benefits are available to those that are less well off. They were bound to be critical, as this is one of the few changes that Labour have made to Tory policy so far.

Wage growth likely to trigger next rise in triple lock state pension
If the figures were to remain the same next month, then we could see the full new state pension get a boost of around £517 — taking it to around £12,019 per year from next April.
